し、表示信号を発生する合成部と、上記合成部で
合成された表示信号によつて、画像とシンボルを
表示する表示部とで構成されるラスタ・スキヤン
方式による表示装置、即ち外部から入力される画
像に対して文字や図形などのシンボルを重ねて表
示するラスタ・スキヤン方式による表示装置にお
いて、表示部の画像全領域の明るさに応じてシン
ボルの輝度の明暗反転を自動的に行うため、画像
全領域における映像信号の平均輝度レベルを検出
する平均輝度レベル検出回路と、シンボルの輝度
の明暗反転レベルをあらかじめ所定の値に設定す
る基準信号源と、上記平均輝度レベル検出回路で
検出された画像全領域における映像信号の平均輝
度レベルと上記基準信号源で設定されたシンボル
の輝度の明暗反転レベルを比較し、その大小に応
じた出力信号を発生する比較回路と、シンボルの
輝度の明暗反転を行う輝度明暗反転回路と、シン
ボルの映像信号と上記輝度明暗反転回路で輝度の
明暗反転されたシンボルの映像信号とを上記比較
回路の出力信号によつて切換える切換回路とで構
成される輝度明暗反転制御回路を付加したことを
