ヤハウジングと、該ギヤハウジングを弾性部材を
介して車体に支持する支持部材とを備えたステア
リングギヤハウジング支持装置において、 前記弾性部材として、ギヤハウジングの支持剛
性を外部からアクチユエータに対する制御指令に
より変更可能な可変剛性弾性部材を用い、 前記アクチユエータに対して外部から制御指令
を出力する支持剛性制御手段として、ハンドル切
り込み操作時かハンドル切り戻し操作時か保舵時
かを検出するハンドル操作検出部と、ハンドル切
り込み操作時には支持剛性を高める制御指令を出
力し、ハンドル切り戻し操作時及び保舵時には支
持剛性を低くする制御指令を出力する支持剛性制
御部とを有する制御手段を用いたことを特徴とす
るステアリングギヤハウジング支持装置。 (2) 前記可変剛性弾性部材が、弾性体の内部を
左右の流体室に画成すると共に、該左右の流体室
をアクチユエータとしての電磁弁を介して連通し
、該電磁弁の開閉によつて支持剛性を高剛性と低
剛性とに切換変更可能な部材である請求項1記載
