Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sensor for detecting the change of respiration without need for directly installing same on a body by coating a strain gauge which is stuck on a base having elasticity with a coating member having a projection of elastic body in the center. CONSTITUTION:A respiration detecting sensor has a strain gauge 2 which is stuck on top of a disk type base 1 made if a plastic or metal having elasticity and a coating material 3 covering the strain gauge 2 has the projection 4 of an elastic body in the center, while the figure 5 indicates lead wires connected to the strain gauge 2. Thereby, even a slight body movement caused by respiration is concentrically transmitted to the strain gauge 2 by means of the projection 4 and further, the strain gauge 2 coated with a coating material 3 is excellent in durability while preventing the disturbance and electric noise from being mixed in because of the unexposed strain gauge 2. Accordingly, a sensor for detecting even a slight body movement caused by respiration without need for directly installing on the body can be obtained.

With this configuration, slight body movements due to breathing are concentrated and transmitted to the strain gauge 2 through the protrusions 4, and the strain gauge 2 is transferred to the coating material 3.
Since the strain gauge 2 is covered, it has excellent durability, and since the strain gauge 2 is not exposed, it is possible to prevent disturbance electrical noise from entering.

2 and 3 show an embodiment of the respiration change detection device according to the present invention, in which the respiration detection sensor S as described above is placed under the sheets of a bed pad or mattress 6 as shown in FIG. As shown in FIG. 3, the signal output from each sensor S is amplified by an amplifier 7, and a filter 8 cuts a direct current component and cants noise, thereby reducing the variation component. The outputs are added by an adder circuit 9.

By arranging the breathing detection sensors S in a matrix in this way, breathing can be detected without being affected by differences in body position during sleep, and the output of each sensor S can be summed up. Therefore, even if the change component of each sensor S due to respiration is small, it can be obtained as a large signal level.
