本発明は偏光板シート、特に個々の大きさに切
断分割されて得られる偏光板が、その極性を明示
し得るよう構成された偏光板シートに関するもの

向性が容易に判別することができる。したがつ
て、液晶表示素子への接着工程における極性の判
別検査が不要となり、生産性を大幅に向上させる
ことができる。また、偏光子1が例えば赤、縁色
等の色特性を有する偏光板シートであれば、矢印
パターン6の印刷色を上記各色に対応して選択す
ることによつて、偏光板シートの色分類および管
理等が極めて簡単にできる優れた効果が得られ

板を形成する際、保護フイルム7、図示しない偏
光子1、粘着剤3および離型紙4ともに同一形状
に打抜いて形成される。またこの場合、この保護
フイルム7はTN型液晶表示素子の外形寸法に合
わせて上辺側両角のカツト部7aは下辺側カツト
部7bよりもその切欠部の大きさが小さくなるよ
うに形成されている。このような構成としたと
き、この保護フイルム7の極性、つまり偏光軸も
しくは光吸収軸方向を同図に示したように矢印パ
ターン方向6に予めとり決めることによつて、
個々に切断分割された偏光板をその上辺と下辺と
を間違ることなく正しくTN型液晶表示素子に被
