Claims

An opening of a cylinder formed in a caliper having a bridge portion that straddles the outer periphery of a disc rotor that rotates together with a wheel, and an outer end of a piston that is slidably fitted in an axial direction in a liquid-tight manner into the opening of the cylinder. A boot is interposed on the outer circumferential surface of the piston, and a shim is interposed between the outer end surface of the piston and the back plate of the pad opposite thereto, and the shim is interposed to block heat from the rotor during braking. In the disc brake, which is detachably attached to the piston in the sliding direction thereof, the shim extends toward the boot side along the outer peripheral surface of the outer end of the piston on the outer peripheral side of the disc rotor at the outer peripheral part of the shim. A bent portion is provided, and a protective wall portion is provided at the tip of the bent portion to be bent toward the opening side of the cylinder to cover a portion of the boot that faces the disc rotor, and the shim is provided with a protective wall portion that is bent toward the opening side of the cylinder, and the shim is provided with a protective wall portion that is bent toward the opening side of the cylinder.
