A code signal is a code signal that is initially inserted into a video signal to display a frame number or elapsed time on the screen when playing an optical disc, to automatically play a still image on a specific screen, or to locate a screen. 16.1 in the vertical retrace interval of the television video signal as shown in Figure 4.
A signal composed of a 24-bit pulse code as shown in Figure $5 is inserted into each of the 7.18th and 279th, 280.281st horizontal scanning lines. FIG. 2 shows a method for inserting this code signal. This involves inserting a code into the video signal played back from a video tape recorder (VTR) 1 by manually switching the code signal generator 2 while viewing the content on the monitor screen. V for recording again
Recorded in TR3. When using this video signal on an optical disc, as shown in FIG. 3, the video signal previously inserted with the code signal and recorded on the VTR 3 is played back on the playback VTR 4, FM modulated using the FM modulation device 6, and then transferred to the digital conversion device. 6, the signal is converted into a digital signal and recorded on an optical disc.

It also requires a lot of time. Moreover, the manual operation of the code signal generator makes it easy for errors to occur.

When recording a signal, the time code value read from the VTR is automatically compared with the initially set value, and the code content of the code signal generator is automatically switched at the matched time. It was designed so that

Before recording a video signal on an optical disk, first input the switching time of the code to be inserted into the video signal into the time code comparator 14 in a time corresponding to the time code on the tape, and also input the contents of the code to be inserted at the same time. I'll keep it. To record a video signal on an optical disc, first move the vTRll to simultaneously reproduce the video signal and time code signal. The reproduced time code signal is read by the time code reading device 13 (that is, the signal is converted into a digital signal, and from this digital signal, the content of the frame at 2 minutes 9 seconds is decoded), and the time code comparison device 14 is used to read the first set. The time and the read time code value are compared, and when they match, the drive device 16 switches the code content of the code signal generator 12 according to the code content initially set in the time code comparison device 14. The video signal reproduced by the VTR 11 is sent to the code signal generator 12 as described above.
A code signal is automatically inserted, modulated by an FM modulator 16, converted into a digital signal by a digital converter 17, and recorded on an optical disc.
