PURPOSE:To restrict an excessive combustion or generation of CO and soot when a weak combustion is rapidly turned to a high combustion by a method wherein a drafting force within a combustion cylinder is reduced in cooperation with a wick adjusting means of a liquid fuel combustion device such as an oil heater and the like. CONSTITUTION:A wick 1 is held between a wick inner cylinder 4 and a wick outer cylinder 5 in such a way as it may be moved vertically, an exposure height of the end of the wick into a combustion chamber 11 is varied by a wick adjusting means 14 so as to adjust an amount of combustion. A suction fan 15 is arranged within a wick inner cylinder 4 so as to generate a flow directed from an upper part to a lower part in cooperation with the wick adjusting means 14. As the combustion is rapidly changed from a weak combustion to a high combustion, the suction fan 15 may form a flow direction from the upper part to the lower part so as to decrease a drafting generated at an upper part within the combustion cylinder 3. Accordingly, since an excessive gasification of fuel is restricted, it is possible to prevent an excessive combustion and occurrence of CO and soot and the like.

の内側に設定した場合について説明したが、この吸気フ
ァン15は燃焼室11内のドラフト力を抑制することが
できればどごでも設定可能で、例えば第2図に示すよう
にタンク部2の一部に設定して、タンク内の空気を吸気
することによりドラフト力を抑制する手段でも同様の効
果が得られる。
