Abstract

PURPOSE:To exactly control the temp. of a liquid crystal to decrease the unequal quantity of transmitted light of a liquid crystal by forming a temp. detecting part in a liquid crystal panel and directly detecting the temp. of the liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:Panel glasses 1, 2 have respectively a thin-film electrode 4 consisting of 'Chromel(R)' and a thin-film electrode 5 consisting of 'Alumel(R)', respectively. These two metals have a junction point 4-a to contact with the liquid crystal 3 sealed by the panel glass 1, 2. The thermoelectromotive force corresponding to the temp. of the liquid crystal, therefore, arises at the junction point of the thin-film electrode 4 of 'Chromel(R)' and the thin-film electrode 5 consisting of 'Alumel(R)' and the temp. of the liquid crystal in the part where the two electrodes 4, 5 come into contact can be directly detected. The operation of the heater is controlled in this way without generating a time lag therein with a temp. change of the liquid crystal 3 and the temp. of the liquid crystal is easily controlled so as to be kept always equal to a set temp. The unequal temp. with respect to the set temp. particularly in a liquid crystal shutter which dislikes the change in the transmittance of the liquid crystal 3 is decreased.

Such a liquid crystal panel is used in an electrophotographic printer, a copy stand, or a general printer, in which the light irradiated onto the liquid crystal panel is selectively transmitted through a number of shutters on the panel to either transmit or not transmit, forming an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum. Used for display devices, etc.

As shown in Fig. 4, the structure of the temperature detection section of a conventional liquid crystal panel has an aluminum plate 26 as a heat storage plate outside the panel glasses 22 and 24 in which the liquid crystal 23 is sealed, and a thermistor 21 fixed inside the aluminum plate 26. The temperature at the position via 22 is detected and the detection result is fed back to the temperature control circuit to turn on the heater 25.
The temperature of the liquid crystal was controlled by setting F.

However, in the conventional technology described above, the liquid crystal and temperature detection section are separated, so feedback (

0FF) is delayed, and since glass is a material with low thermal conductivity, there are problems in that a temperature difference occurs between the fixed part of the thermistor and the liquid crystal itself when glass is interposed. The present invention is intended to solve these problems, and its purpose is to accurately control the temperature of the liquid crystal by forming a temperature detection section inside the liquid crystal panel and directly detecting the temperature of the liquid crystal. The goal is to reduce unevenness in the transmitted light of the liquid crystal.

According to the above configuration of the present invention, when the temperature of the joint between two electrode parts made of different metals changes, a change in thermoelectromotive force occurs between the two electrodes (principle of thermocouple). The amount of power is determined by the type of two metals, the temperature of the joint, and the constant temperature of the reference junction, and is not affected by the shape and dimensions of the metals or temperature changes during the process. The temperature of the liquid crystal at the junction of the two electrodes can be directly detected from the type of electrode, the magnitude of the thermoelectromotive force, and the temperature of the reference junction.

FIG. 2 is a block diagram of an embodiment of the present invention. The thermoelectromotive force detected by the liquid crystal temperature detection section 7 is inputted from each electrode to the reference junction compensation circuit 8 through compensation conductors. The thermoelectromotive force mentioned above is determined by the type of two metals in the joint, the temperature of the joint, and the temperature of the reference junction. Therefore, in order to determine the temperature of the joint by thermoelectromotive force, the temperature of the reference junction is not constant. FIG. 3 more specifically explains the liquid crystal temperature detection section 7, reference junction compensation circuit 8, and amplifier circuit 9 shown in FIG. 2 as an example of a circuit configuration that can achieve the object of the present invention. It is something.

The thermoelectromotive force generated due to the temperature difference between the liquid crystal temperature detection section 16 and the reference junction is input to the input terminals 13 and 14 of the input terminal board 15. In order to compensate by using this input terminal as a reference junction, the temperature of the input terminals 13 and 14 (reference junction) is measured by the temperature measuring resistor 17 that is placed in close contact with the input terminal board 15, and the voltage corresponding to the temperature is sent to the liquid crystal temperature detection section. This is compensated by the thermoelectromotive force generated in step 16.

However, since this thermal electromotive force is an extremely small voltage, by using the insulated power supply 18, fluctuations in the thermal electromotive force due to fluctuations in the power supply voltage can be kept low, and the operational amplifier 19 uses a variable resistor 20 to reduce the thermal electromotive force necessary for signal processing. The voltage is amplified to a certain level, and the noise resistance is also improved. The liquid crystal temperature voltage outputted by the amplifier circuit 9 and the arbitrary liquid crystal temperature voltage set by the liquid crystal temperature setting circuit 11 are compared by the liquid crystal temperature comparison circuit 10, and if the liquid crystal temperature is lower than the set temperature, the heater is controlled and driven. Heater 6 is connected to circuit 12 (Fig. 1 Heater 6)
generates heat, and the liquid crystal temperature is controlled so that it always remains at the set temperature.

As described above, according to the present invention, the temperature detection section is constructed by forming a joint of different metals inside the liquid crystal panel, so it is possible to directly detect the temperature of the liquid crystal, and it is possible to directly detect the temperature of the liquid crystal. On the other hand, it is easy to control the operation of the heater without creating a time difference so that the liquid crystal temperature is always equal to the set temperature, and it is not affected by external heat.
