排気回収器を備えた定置式エンジンにおいて、排
気通路に、触媒装置と、該触媒装置を迂回するバ
イパス通路と、該バイパス通路と前記触媒装置の
上流部とを連通する連通路を設けるとともに、少
なくとも前記触媒装置の入口側と前記バイパス通
路の上流部とに開閉バルブを設け、エンジン始動
後の所定期間は前記触媒装置入口側の開閉バルブ
を閉じて前記バイパス通路上流部の開閉バルブを
開き、その後は前記触媒装置入口側の開閉バルブ
を開いて前記バイパス通路上流部の開閉バルブを
閉じる手段を設けたことを特徴とする定置式エン
