Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound dispersible at low temperature, forming a transparent gel by reacting an alkali metallic salt of 2-ethylhexoic acid with aluminum salt and drying the formed aluminum soap at <= a fixed temperature. CONSTITUTION:An alkali metallic salt of 2-ethylhexoic acid is reacted with aluminum salt in the ratio to form 1-13 pts.wt. trisoap shown by formula II based on 10 pts.wt. disoap shown by formula I (RCOO is 2-ethylhexoic acid), then the formed aluminum soap is dried at <=50 deg.C to give aluminum 2- ethylhexoate. The aluminum soap obtained by this method is uniformly dispersible into a low-boiling solvent at low temperature to form a transparent gel.

Among aluminum soaps, 2-ethymuhexoic acid aluminum soap (hereinafter simply referred to as octymu acid acid) is used as a gelling agent for printing inks, etc. It is often required to produce colorless and transparent gels at low temperatures using solvents. Also, in recent years, there has been a desire for a gelling agent that can be uniformly dispersed at low temperatures in a solvent with a low flash point or boiling point, and that can form a colorless and transparent gel after a predetermined period of time.

Octylic acid amine produced by the method described in Japanese Patent Publication No. 10476/1983 forms a colorless and transparent gel in petroleum-based, tar-based, etc. solvents at low temperatures as aluminum soap. Although the book was satisfactory, it was not a book that could satisfy new demands.

In the past, in the production of aluminum soap, it was thought that drying conditions played an important role in determining the properties of aluminum soap, but various experiments were carried out to find out what this was. As a result of repeated efforts, the following facts were discovered and the present invention was completed.

1. Disoap (HO・Al(RCOO), :) 10
Trisoap (Az (Rcoo), ) or 1 to parts by weight
The alkali metal salt of 2-ethylhexoic acid and aluminum sediment are reacted at a rate of 3 parts by weight, and the resulting aluminum octylate is dried at a temperature of about 50°C or less. The ratio is almost the same as that of octylic acid, and it is uniformly dispersed at low temperatures in a low boiling point solvent, forming a gel after a predetermined period of time.

Considering the above results, it is possible to disperse uniformly in the solvent at low temperatures,
In addition, when aluminum octylate, which gels at low temperatures, is produced by aqueous metathesis, it is important to use raw materials at a ratio of 1 to 3 parts by weight of trisoap to 10 parts by weight of disoap, and the drying temperature is important. It is thought that.

In addition, in pigeon 2 and pigeon 4, octyl acid was added to pigeon 2 and pigeon 4.
Immediately after the reaction, the bond between aluminum and octylic acid in aluminum octylate is not so complete, so in the aluminum octylate obtained by the method of the present invention, no trisops are produced and octylic acid remains, promoting dissolution and gelation. This is because it was thought that this might be the case.
