Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive and miniaturized optical switch by comprising the light reflecting plane of a mirror with a half mirror and prohibiting the transmission of an unrequired optical signal out of the optical signals emitted from a receptacle to another receptacle when no electromagnet is driven. CONSTITUTION:The receptacle 1, a mirror 2, a mirror mounting part 5, a mounting part holding tool 6, the electromagnet 7, a case 8, a spring 9 and a spring mounting part 10 are provided. The optical signal emitted from the receptacle 1a is transmitted to the receptacle 1b when the electromagnet 7 is driven, and the optical signal from the receptacle 1c is transmitted to the receptacle 1d. Also, when no electromagnet 7 is driven, part of the optical signal from the receptacle 1a is reflected on the half-mirror plane 11 of the mirror 2, and is transmitted to the receptacle 1d, and also, the optical signal transmitting the half-mirror plane 11 is transmitted to the receptacle 1b as monitor light. Meanwhile, the optical signal from the receptacle 1c is shielded with a non- transmission part 12 formed on a plane opposing the half-mirror plane 11 of the mirror 2, and not being transmitted to another receptacles 1a, 1b, and 1d.

In the optical switch according to the present invention, the light reflecting surface of the mirror is formed of a half mirror, and the optical switch is configured so that when the electromagnet is not driven, the optical signal emitted from the receptacle that does not require optical signal transmission is not transmitted to other receptacles. Therefore, even when the electromagnet is not driven, the optical signal can be monitored with the receptacle located on the side of the mirror opposite to the light reflecting surface.
