Abstract

PURPOSE:To check the defect of an optical disk and to attain recording/ reproduction at high speed by sticking two single plates where spindle grooves which face opposite directions in such a way that surfaces where the spindle grooves are generated come to the outside so as to form the disk. CONSTITUTION:The optical disk 10 has structure where two 1a and 1b are sticked and spiral grooves generated in the opposite directions are provided for respective single plates 1a and 1b. Consequently, the rotational travel direc tion of the spiral grooves come to the same direction when the optical disk 10 is set to an optical disk device as illustrated. Then, two heads 21a and 21b are provided for the optical disk driving device by facing both sides of the optical disk 10, and respective heads 21a and 21b are driven indenpendently on in terms of interlock. Thus, the defect of the optical disk is checked at high speed and the optical disk is eliminated from turning over and recording ad reproduction can be executed at high speed at the time of reading and writ ing data.

In the above-described conventional optical disc, when inspecting the optical disc for defects, there is a problem in that the measurement can only be performed on one side at a time, and the speed cannot be increased. In other words, if you try to do this on both sides, since the spiral grooves are carved in the same direction, the head movement direction will be opposite on each side of the optical disk, and a completely different head movement control system will be used. It was necessary to prepare two series.

Furthermore, in the conventional technology described above, when writing or reading data by inserting an optical disk into an optical disk drive device, the optical disk must be turned over in order to write or read data recorded on the opposite side. There was a need. In order to read/write data recorded on the opposite side without turning the optical disk over, two heads may be provided to face each other on both sides of the optical disk.

Furthermore, when using the above-mentioned conventional optical disc in an optical disc library device, the optical disc library device requires a mechanism to select and reverse the optical disc surface, making it difficult to speed up access time. There was a problem.

According to the present invention, when an optical disc is set in an optical disc drive and rotated, the spiral grooves travel in the same direction on both sides. Therefore, without providing two different head movement control systems, it is possible to inspect the optical disk for defects and to simultaneously perform data writing/reading on both sides, thereby achieving higher speeds.
