(Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to a water quality improving material for drinking water that can remove impurities from drinking water and mineralize it by immersing it in water such as drinking water. (Prior art) In recent years, due to overpopulation and industrial waste, water sources have become contaminated with various chemicals, bacteria, and other microorganisms, and to treat them, large amounts of chlorine are added during water purification. Therefore, the tap water sent to ordinary households has a strong chlorine odor. Therefore, many water filters are used to remove this limescale odor. The principle behind this is that the filter is filled with activated carbon, which has a great deodorizing effect. An object of the present invention is to realize a water quality improving material having deodorizing and mineralizing effects without using activated carbon, which has been generally known up until now. (Structure of the Invention) The water quality improving material for drinking water according to the present invention is activated by heating sandy coral fossil or coral sand containing calcium carbonate as a main component. Therefore, when it is placed in water, calcium carbonate is eluted and the water can be made into slightly alkaline mineral water.
In addition, coral fossils and coral sand are themselves porous and, like activated carbon, have impurity adsorption and deodorizing functions. Therefore, the limescale odor of drinking water is removed, and impurities therein are also adsorbed. The sand-like coral fossil or coral sand used in the present invention is obtained by crushing reef-building corals derived from coelenterates, which are natural living organisms, and contains calcium carbonate as the main component (96%) as shown in Table 1. It contains large amounts of phosphorus and other heavy metal components, which serve as skeleton elements for living things and maintain a natural balance.

When it is activated and vaporized by heating to 250°C to 350°C and then dried, a water quality improving material in the form of granules with an average size of about 1 mm is obtained. The activated coral sand has pores developed by heat activation and has many pores of 10 to 50 microns, and also has an extremely large surface area and water permeability. When this water quality improving material is put into water, a suitable amount of calcium and other metal ions will be eluted. According to the present invention, since coral sand has CaCO 3 as its main component, as shown in formula (1), CaCO 3
gradually neutralizes hydrochloric acid, making tap water not only alkaline but also delicious water containing calcium ions, which are useful for health. CaCO 3 +2HCl→Ca 2+ +2Cl - +CO 2 ↑+H 2 O
...(1) Furthermore, along with this calcium ion, trace amounts of other mineral components shown in Table 1 are eluted to form mineral water. Table 2 shows residual chlorine, PH value, etc. when tap water was filtered using the water quality improving material of the present invention. Table 3 shows the water quality improving material of the present invention in tap water 1.
It shows the changes in pH and Ca concentration over time when 25g was immersed.

You can see that it turns alkaline and becomes mineral water. (Effects of the Invention) As described above, in the present invention, sandy coral or coral sand that does not substantially contain salt is activated by heating and then dried to obtain a water quality improving material. Therefore, when immersed in water, it has a deodorizing effect so that odorless water is obtained, and at the same time, high quality mineral water that is slightly alkaline and contains an appropriate amount of calcium and trace amounts of mineral components is obtained.
