Description
本発明は新規なソリツドゴルフボールに関す
る。ソリツドゴルフボールには1つの構成物から
なるワンピースゴルフボールとソリツドコアをカ
バーで被覆したツーピースゴルフボールおよびソ
リツドコアとカバーとの間に適当な1ないし複数
の中間層を有する多層構造のゴルフボールがあ
る。これらのソリツドゴルフボールとして、その
反発係数を向上させ、かつ耐衝撃性を向上させる
ために、α,β−モノエチレン系不飽和カルボン
酸の金属塩等の不飽和結合を有するモノマーを共
架橋剤として配合したものが知られている。これ
らのソリツドゴルフボールは、それ自体かなり優
れた性能を有しているが、より優れた反発係数お
よび耐久性を有するゴルフボールが要請されてい
る。
従来、ソリツドゴルフボールの組成物に添加さ
れるα,β−エチレン系不飽和カルボン酸金属塩
モノマーを添加したソリツドゴルフボールは、こ
れらのモノマーが遊離開始剤によつてポリブタジ
エン主鎖にグラフトされ、共架橋剤として働き、
これによりボールに適度の硬さ(コンプレツシヨ
ン 圧縮比)と耐久性を与えるものと考えられて
いた。然しながら、この共架橋された際に生ずる
グラフト鎖が長くなると、ポリブタジエンゴムに
他のポリマーを配合したのと同様の結果、即ちゴ
ルフボールの反発性能の低下をきたす事となる。
本発明者らは前記α,β−エチレン系不飽和カ
ルボン酸等の共架橋に際して生ずるグラフト鎖の
長さを調節する事により、適度の硬さと耐久性を
付与しながら、同時に反発性能を著しく向上させ
る事を試みる内、4,4′−ジチオ−ビス−ジモル
フオリン及び/又はその誘導体がグラフト鎖の分
子量調整剤として非常に優れた性能を有する事を
見出し、本発明を完成した。即ち、本発明はα,
β−エチレン系不飽和カルボン酸またはその金属
塩、遊離開始剤および4,4′−ジチオ−ビス−ジ
モルフオリン及び/又はその誘導体を含有するゴ
ム組成物から形成したゴルフボールを提供する。
本発明に於て使用するα,β−モノエチレン系
不飽和カルボン酸、例えば特公昭55−19615号公
報に記載されている様な、アクリル酸又はメタク
リル酸等であり、特にアクリル酸が好ましい。勿
論アクリル酸とメタクリル酸とを併用してもよ
い。上記の、α,β−モノエチレン系不飽和カル
ボン酸の金属塩は2価の金属塩、例えば亜鉛塩、
カルシウム塩、マグネシウム塩、ジルコニウム塩
等であるが、特に亜鉛塩が好ましい。
4,4′−ジチオ−ビス−ジモルフオリン及び/
又はその誘導体の使用量はゴム成分100重量部に
対し約0.1〜約5重量部であり、0.1重量部より少
量の場合は添加した効果が充分発揮されない。
本発明の実施に用いられるゴム成分としてはポ
リブタタジエンを単独又は天然ゴム、合成ポリイ
ソプレンゴム等をゴム成分の約10重量%以下混合
して用いる。合成ポリイソプレンや天然ゴムが10
%以上配合されると、得られたボールの反発係数
が著しく低下する。
本発明ソリツドゴルフボールには、さらにα,
β−エチレン系不飽和カルボン酸を重合させる為
の遊離基開始剤、例えばジクミルパーオキシド
等、老化防止剤、酸化亜鉛等の充填剤を適当量配
合する。
本発明で得られるソリツドゴルフボールは、前
述の如く、ワンピースゴルフボール、ツーピース
ゴルフボール及び多層構造のゴルフボールであつ
てもよく、いずれに於てもα,β−エチレン系不
飽和カルボン酸金属塩等のモノマーを単独で使用
した場合に比べ、著しく優れた反発性能、耐久性
およびフライトキヤリー特性を示す。
以下、実施例を挙げて本発明を説明する。
実施例 1〜3及び比較例 1〜4
表−1に示す処方で直径約39mmのゴルフボール
用コアを製造し、その反発係数と耐久性指数を常
法により測定した。さらにこのゴルフボール用コ
ア表面に厚み約2mmのカバー(サーリン1601)を
被覆し、そのフライトキヤリーを測定した。結果
を表−1に示す。
