The present invention relates to a magnetic recording medium such as a magnetic card or a magnetic passbook, and an object thereof is to provide a magnetic recording medium with good adhesive strength between a paper base material and a magnetic layer. When producing magnetic cards, transferable magnetic cards are generally used, and a transfer method is used in which this sheet is cut into thin strips and then heat-pressed onto a paper base material in the form of stripes. In other words, the transferable magnetic sheet described above has a structure in which a release layer, a magnetic layer, and an adhesive layer are sequentially formed on a base film, and the adhesive layer side is brought into contact with a paper base material and heated. By pressing and peeling off the base film, a magnetic card or the like is obtained in which an adhesive layer, a magnetic layer, and a release layer are integrally adhered to a paper base material. Needless to say, the adhesive layer is used to ensure adhesive strength between the magnetic layer and the paper base material, and the durability of the magnetic layer is influenced by its adhesive performance. By the way, conventional adhesive layers are generally made of adhesives mainly composed of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, so it is difficult to bond the paper base material and the magnetic layer. not enough power,
There was a concern that the magnetic layer would partially fall off during handling of magnetic cards, etc. Furthermore, in order to increase the adhesive strength during transfer, it was necessary to tighten heating and pressing conditions. This invention was discovered as a result of intensive studies to eliminate the above-mentioned drawbacks, and the gist of the invention is to coat vinyl acetate-maleate ester on a paper base material such as high-quality paper or cloth paper. It is found in magnetic recording media such as magnetic cards and magnetic passbooks in which a magnetic layer is provided through an adhesive layer mainly composed of a polymer. That is, the magnetic recording medium of the present invention uses a transferable magnetic sheet whose adhesive layer is mainly composed of vinyl acetate-maleate copolymer, and heat-presses the sheet onto a paper base material by a conventional method. It can be produced by transferring the image. Alternatively, instead of using the above method, an adhesive layer mainly composed of vinyl acetate-maleate copolymer is first formed on the paper base material, and then a base film, a release layer and a magnetic layer are formed on this. It can also be produced by heat-pressing and transferring a transferable magnetic sheet. Furthermore, in some cases, it may be produced by sequentially forming an adhesive layer mainly made of vinyl acetate-maleate ester copolymer and a magnetic layer directly on a paper base material without using a transferable magnetic sheet. is also possible. The above-mentioned adhesive layer mainly composed of vinyl acetate-maleate ester copolymer increases the adhesive strength between the paper base material and the magnetic layer, and is easier to handle than conventional ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer systems. It functions extremely effectively in preventing the magnetic layer from falling off and improving durability, and it also provides very good results in making the transfer conditions gentle when producing magnetic cards etc. using the transfer method. bring. In this copolymer, the copolymerization ratio of vinyl acetate and maleate ester is preferably such that the weight ratio of vinyl acetate/maleate ester is 7/3 to 3/7. If the amount of vinyl acetate is too large, the adhesiveness will increase, which may interfere with the production of magnetic cards, etc., or, when a transferable magnetic sheet is obtained, interlayer adhesion may occur during storage of the sheet. On the other hand, if the amount of maleic ester is too large, the adhesion to the paper base material will decrease, and when a transfer method is employed, the transfer conditions must be made stricter. Examples of maleic esters include methyl maleate, dimethyl maleate, ethyl maleate, diethyl maleate, butyl maleate,
Dibutyl maleate and the like are preferably used. As already mentioned, when producing the magnetic recording medium of the present invention, the adhesive layer described above can be formed directly on the paper base material or on the magnetic layer of the transferable magnetic sheet. There are cases where In either embodiment, when forming the adhesive, a method is generally employed in which an emulsion type adhesive containing the above-mentioned copolymer is prepared, applied, and dried. This is because emulsion type adhesives have less adverse effect on the paper base material or magnetic layer. However, if particularly desired, it can also be treated as a general organic solvent solution type. It goes without saying that each of the adhesives described above may contain, in addition to the copolymer component, known additive components used in general adhesives. Next, examples of this invention will be described. In the following, parts and % mean parts by weight and % by weight, respectively. Example 1 A 20% toluene solution of polymethyl methacrylate was coated on a 23μ thick polyester base film to form a release layer about 1μ thick, and a magnetic paint having the following composition was coated on this layer. After forming a magnetic layer with a thickness of approximately 13 μm, an emulsion adhesive with a solid content of 45% containing vinyl acetate-dibutyl maleate copolymer with a weight ratio of 6/4 was further applied to form a magnetic layer with a thickness of approximately 13 μm.
A transferable magnetic sheet was obtained by forming a 3μ thick adhesive layer. <Magnetic paint composition> γ-Fe 2 O 3 75 parts Vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol copolymer 15 parts Polyurethane prepolymer 10 parts Methyl isobutyl ketone 65 parts Toluene 65 parts Next, the above transferable magnetic sheet was coated with 7 mm After cutting to width, the adhesive layer side was pressed onto a cloth paper and heat-pressed and transferred at a pressure of 10 kg/cm 2 and at a temperature and time shown in the table below to produce a magnetic card of the present invention. Example 2 Instead of the vinyl acetate-dibutyl maleate copolymer emulsion adhesive of Example 1, an emulsion adhesive with a solid content of 45% containing vinyl acetate-diethyl maleate copolymer at a weight ratio of 6/4 was used. A magnetic card of the present invention was produced in exactly the same manner as in Example 1 except that a magnetic card was used. Example 3 A transferable magnetic sheet was obtained in the same manner as in Example 1 except that an adhesive layer was not provided on the magnetic layer. Next, an emulsion adhesive similar to that used in Example 1 was applied to the cloth paper to a width of 7 mm to form an adhesive layer with a thickness of about 3 μm. A magnetic card of the present invention was prepared by cutting the transferable magnetic sheet to a width of 7 mm, pressing the magnetic layer side onto this adhesive layer, and transferring the sheet under the same conditions as in Example 1. Comparative Example Instead of the vinyl acetate-dibutyl maleate copolymer emulsion adhesive of Example 1, ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer at a weight ratio of 1/1 was used in a methyl isobutyl ketone-toluene mixed solvent (mixed weight ratio: 1/1). A magnetic card was produced in exactly the same manner as in Example 1 except that an adhesive prepared by dissolving 1) was used. The results of examining the adhesive strength between the cloth paper and the magnetic layer of each magnetic card of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Example above are as follows:
The results were as shown in the table below. The adhesion strength was evaluated using a so-called peeling test in which an adhesive tape was pasted on the magnetic stripe and then peeled off, and the magnetic layer was evaluated as having no abnormality (○).
A case where a part of the magnetic layer peels off is marked as (△), and a case where the entire magnetic layer peels off is marked as (×).

[Table] As is clear from the above table, the magnetic card of the present invention has a greater adhesive force between the paper base material and the magnetic layer than conventional magnetic cards, and the transfer conditions do not have to be so strict. I understand.
