Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the correspondence of a management station by devising the system such that all stations receiving system state management information from the management station give a reply to the management station. CONSTITUTION:The system state management information is updated at the management station 1 and sends the result to all stations. The station 1 keeps reception of a reply from stations 2 and sends the information again to a station returning no reply at a point of a prescribed time after the transmission. The station waits for a reply for a prescribed time. When no reply comes regardless of repetition of retransmission for a prescribed number of times, the station 1 regards the station as a faulty station to revise the system state management information and sends the result to all the stations. When a reply comes during retransmission, it is regarded that the management information is sent to all the stations and succeeding change information is awaited. Through the constitution above, the state resulting in system-down such as dissidence of system state among the stations is avoided and the circuit network system with high reliability is realized.

Next, the operation will be explained. Each station (2) monitors the status of its own station and the computers, terminals, etc. connected to it, and when there is a change in status, transmits change information to the management station (1). The management station (1) updates the system state management information with the received change information, and transmits the updated system state management information to all stations in broadcast mode. As a result, the latest status of all stations in the system is unified among each station.

However, in the past, stations did not return responses to broadcast mode transmissions, so the management station could not know whether all stations had received the system status management information, and could therefore take remedial measures such as retransmission. This poses a problem in that there is a possibility of discrepancies in system status management information between stations.

Upon receiving the change information from the station (2), the management station (1) updates the system status management information and transmits it to all stations in broadcast mode. The management station (1) continues to receive responses from the station (2), and after a certain period of time has elapsed since the transmission in broadcast mode, checks whether there have been responses from all normal stations at that time.

If there is a station that has not returned a response, the system status management information is retransmitted to that station and a response is waited for a certain period of time. If no response is returned even after repeating this retransmission a certain number of times,
Assuming that the station is down, the system status management information is updated and sent to all stations in broadcast mode. If a response is returned during retransmission, it is assumed that the system status management information has been transmitted to all stations, and the stations wait for the next change information.

As you can see, according to this invention, each station returns a response to the system status management information in broadcast mode, so even if some stations cannot receive it, the management station can retransmit the information. This has the effect of avoiding situations that could lead to system failure, such as discrepancies in system status recognition m between stations, and realizing a highly reliable network system.

In a network system that includes multiple stations that are connected to computers and manage each computer, and a management station that is connected to these multiple stations and manages the status of each station, management information that manages the status of the stations and computers is provided. The above-mentioned management station transmits the above-mentioned management information to all the above-mentioned stations, and the above-mentioned management information is retransmitted to the station that does not respond after a preset predetermined period of time has elapsed. A system state management method characterized in that a station that is not present is determined to be in an abnormal state, and information about that abnormal state is transmitted to all other stations in a normal state.
