Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a coated article with a high hardness and flaw resistance by compounding a thermoset resin with a filler having a specified Mohs hardness. CONSTITUTION:The title compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. thermoset resin which can give a rigid coating film by forming a three-dimensional network structure by the cleavage and addition reaction of double bonds in the resin in the presence of a thermally decomposable radical catalyst (e.g. an unsatd. polyester resin), 50-300 pts.wt. filler with a Mohs hardness of 5 or higher (e.g. quartzite), and a copolymerizable monomer, an initiator, a curing accelerator, a pigment, etc., if required.

As a method to hide such surface defects, there is a so-called in-mold coating method, in which SMC or BMC is sufficiently cured in a mold, and then a coating composition is injected and the coating is applied by heating and pressurizing again. Are known. As an in-mold coating composition suitable for the in-mold coating method, an in-mold coating composition comprising an epoxy modified resin and an inorganic filler is disclosed in JP-A-60-23443.

The urethane acrylate resin is a resin obtained by reacting an organic polyol with an organic polyisocyanate and further reacting with a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate. It is also possible to leave some free isocyanate groups in the resin and combine it with the above vinyl ester resin. The organic polyols used include alkylene diols, alkylene diol ethers, alkylene diol esters, polyether polyols, and polyester polyols. Examples of the alkylene diol include ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, diethylene glycol, diisopropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, and butane diol. Hydroxyalkyl ethers of such alkylene diols can also be used. Examples of polyether polyols include polyoxymethylene, polyethylene oxide, and polypropylene oxaoid. The polyester polyol is a compound produced from the above-mentioned organic polyol and polycarboxylic acid, and has hydroxyl groups at both ends. The polyisocyanates used include toluene diisocyanate (TDI), isophorone diisocyanate, polymethylene polyphenyl diisocyanate, and the like. The hydroxyalkyl used (
Meth) acrylates include hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, hydroxypvir (meth)acrylate,
Hydroxybutyl (meth)acrylate. In these hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates,
The hydroxyl group is usually attached to the carbon in the beta position of the alkyl group. The alkyl group in the hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate can typically contain up to 8 carbon atoms. When the amount of filler added exceeds 300 parts by weight, it becomes difficult to uniformly disperse the filler in the resin or the monomers that constitute the resin. Furthermore, if the amount of filler added exceeds 300 parts by weight, the viscosity becomes too high and the fluidity during in-mold coating decreases, and there is a risk that the coating will not be spread over the entire surface of the molded product to be coated.
