Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently smooth creases by detecting the number of creases and the size on a paper money by an angle sensor and changing the amount of moisture to be applied to the paper money and the pressure of a creases smoothing roller corresponding to the state. CONSTITUTION:For the paper money conveyed by a conveying roller 1, the state of creases is detected by an angle sensor 2 provided in the middle of a conveying path 6. Namely, a contactor 11 of the angle sensor is raised only for a moving amount C according to creases 10a of a paper money 10 and a rotary shaft 12 is turned only at an angle theta so as to detect the size of the creases 10a on the paper money 10. Corresponding to the state of creases detected by the angle sensor, the suitable amount of moisture is applied from a steam generation part 3 to the paper money and upper and lower creases smoothing rollers 4a and 4b press the paper money vertically so as to smooth the creases. Thus, the creases of the paper money can be efficiently smoothed.

In FIG. 1, banknotes are conveyed from a banknote entrance direction (arrow A) to a banknote exit direction (arrow B) by rotation of a banknote transport roller (conveyance roller) 1. The route is a banknote conveyance path (conveyance path) 6 indicated by a broken line. The state of wrinkles in the banknotes conveyed by the conveyance roller 1 is detected by an angle sensor 2 provided in the middle of the conveyance path 6. A method for detecting the state of wrinkles using the angle sensor 2 will be described later.

An appropriate amount of moisture is applied to the banknote from the steam generator 3 according to the state of wrinkles detected by the angle sensor 2. The reason why moisture is applied to the banknote is to loosen the paper fibers of the banknote and improve the effect of removing wrinkles when the wrinkles are removed by the wrinkle removing rollers 4a and 4b.

Next, the banknote is pressed from above and below by upper and lower wrinkle removing rollers 4a and 4b to remove wrinkles. Here, in order to efficiently smooth out the wrinkles, the lower roller 4b is raised by the lifting section 5 in accordance with the state of the wrinkles. As a result, the pressing forces of the upper wrinkle smoothing roller 4a and the lower wrinkle smoothing roller 4b are both increased, thereby increasing the wrinkle smoothing effect.

In FIG. 2, the angle sensor 2 detects the state of wrinkles on the banknote and stores the number and size of the wrinkles in a built-in state storage section 7. The control section 8 controls the operations of the steam generation section 3 and the roller elevation control section 9 based on information from the state storage section 7 . The steam generating section 3 adds moisture to the bill, and the roller elevation control section 9 raises the elevating section 5 that raises and lowers the wrinkle removing roller 4b, and the wrinkle removing rollers 4a and 4b are raised.

In FIG. 3, the contact 1 of the angle sensor is the rotating shaft 12.
and are connected by an arm 13. The contact 11 is a banknote 1
It increases by the amount of movement C due to the wrinkle 10a of 0. As a result, the rotating shaft 12 rotates by an angle θ. The size of the wrinkle 10a on the banknote 10 is detected based on this rotation angle.
