トリツプが使用されているが、この種のウエザス
トリツプは、第1図に示すように、例えば自動車
のトランクのフランジ部8に装着された場合、シ
ールリツプ7の反ぱつ力等によりトランクドア9
の中央よりに倒れ、そのためにシールリツプ7の
シール性が低下し、水漏れの原因となる問題があ

部においての組付け作業性が悪化し、ウエザスト
リツプ挟持部1のフランジ部への嵌め込みに手間
どつたり、嵌め込みが不完全になる虞れがあつ

ル性を確保し、挟持部内へフランジ部を挿入する
際の挿入抵抗を増大させず良好な組付け作業性を
有し、さらに、装着状態での挟持部の保持力を充
分に大きくすることができるウエザストリツプの

方の下部にシールリツプを設けたウエザストリツ
プにおいて、シールリツプ側の下部の挟持リツプ
および反シールリツプ側の上部の挟持リツプの立
上がり角度を対向する挟持リツプより大きくする
と共に、当該挟持リツプの取付け位置を対向する
挟持リツプより挟持部開口側に設け、シールリツ
プ側の下部の挟持リツプと反シールリツプ側の上
部の挟持リツプの少なくとも一方の長さを、対向
する挟持リツプより長く形成して構成したもので

着して使用するウエザストリツプの断面図を示
し、このウエザストリツプは、インサート10を
埋設した断面逆U字形の挟持部11を有し、挟持
部11の上にスポンジゴム製の中空シール部12
が突設されている。挟持部11の一方の外側下部
には斜下方へ伸びるスポンジゴム製のシールリツ
プ17が突設され、断面逆U字形の挟持部11の
内側には、対向して上下2対の挟持リツプ13,
14,15,16が設けられる。これら4本の挟
持リツプの厚さはほぼ同一であるが、シールリツ
プ17側の下部の挟持リツプ15と反シールリツ
プ17側の上部の挟持リツプ14はその立上がり
角度が対向する挟持リツプ13,15に比べ大き
く設定され、例えば、挟持リツプ14と15の水
平に対する立上がり角度θ2とθ3は約35度に、挟持
リツプ13と16の水平に対する立上がり角度θ1
とθ4は約20度に設定されている。また、シールリ
ツプ17側の下部の挟持リツプ15と反シールリ
ツプ側の上部の挟持リツプ14の取付位置(挟持

れ、シールリツプ17のシール性も良好に保持さ

ウエザストリツプ、そして、曲線Cは従来の第2
図のウエザストリツプのものを示している。この
グラフから、本発明のウエザストリツプでは、挟
持リツプ14と15の立上がり角度が大きくな
り、嵌め込み時の挟持リツプ14,15の変形応
力が少なくなつたため、挿入力(嵌め込み力)が
従来のものに比べ全板厚を通じて小さくなること
がわかり、挿入抵抗を増大させずに容易に装着を

本発明のウエザストリツプでは、挟持リツプ14
と15の立上がり角度が大きくなつたが、挟持リ
ツプ14と15の長さが他の挟持リツプ13,1
6と比べ長くなり、特に対向する挟持リツプより
その先端が上方へ突出するため、フランジ部18
が受ける挟持リツプの反力が増大し、その引き抜
き保持力が従来のものに比べ全板厚を通じて増大
することがわかり、ウエザストリツプの装着信頼

を、対向する挟持リツプより長く形成したため、
シールリツプの反ぱつ力等によるウエザストリツ
プの装着状態での倒れ込みを防止してシールリツ
プの良好なシール性を確保することができ、か
つ、装着時における挟持部内へのフランジ部の挿
入抵抗が小さく、フランジ部のコーナや肉厚箇所
での組付け作業性が良好となる。また、従来のも
のに比べ装着状態における引き抜き保持力が増大

さを、対向する挟持リツプより長く形成したこと
