Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the commodity loss due to the victim of robbery by outputting a normal recognition mark onto the label of a commodity, a price tag, or a list at the time of correct read. CONSTITUTION:A function is provided which outputs the normal recognition mark, which can recognize a bar code before read and that after read, to the commodity label, the price tag, the list, or the like. The figure shows an example where the normal recognition mark output function is applied and the bar code is successively scan and read from above, and a circle is outputted as the normal recognition mark to the side of the bar code in a row which is normally read. Scanning of a row 31 is omitted because the normal recognition mark does not exist in this row, and a row 32 is double scanned because two normal recognition marks exist in this row. The row following a row 33 is to be next scanned because the row 33 is the last row to which the normal recognition mark is outputted, and the scan trace is easily discriminated. Thus, the commodity loss due to the victim of robbery is prevented.

[Prior Art] Conventional barcode recognition devices such as bar-hand scanners and fixed 7-pen scanners sound a buzzer when reading barcodes to notify the operator of successful reading, but do not output any barcodes after they have been read. Because the information was not scanned, it was not possible to recognize how much of the product label, price tag, list, etc. had been read.

Conventional barcode recognition devices can read data quickly, but since there is no proof that it has been read, it is difficult to read data at POS.
, the products that have been scanned and those that have not been scanned are separated into baskets and placed in different locations, but it was not possible to tell by looking at the products themselves. In particular, when a product is stolen, it is difficult to locate the theft site if there is no proof that the product has been stolen, and product loss due to theft cannot be prevented.

Also, when quickly inputting data from order books, inventory tables, etc. using barcodes using a barcode recognition device, it is necessary to check which lines have been read to avoid input omissions and double inputs. There was a drawback that the input speed decreased.

FIG. 1 shows a POS system and its functions, and its hardware configuration consists of a PoS main body 1 and a scanner section 2. The functions of the PoS main unit 1 include: ■ ECR function that inputs sales data at the cash register, totals the amount, issues a receipt, settles the amount, and manages the balance; ■ Imports data input from the register or scanner into memory and processes it. - It has a data processing function for processing and creating files, and (2) a data communication function for transmitting the processed data to the HOST, and receiving and outputting the HOST processing results. The functions of Scanner 2 include: ■ An automatic input function that automatically reads barcodes or OCR characters printed on products and price tags, and ■ Outputs a mark indicating successful reading next to successfully read barcodes and OCR characters. It has a normal recognition mark output function.

Figure 2 shows the barcode on the product and price tag, and ■
is before reading, ■ is after reading, and a "normal recognition mark" is output next to the barcode to confirm that it has been successfully read. In PoS sales settlement, ■ is the barcode of an unpaid product, and ■ is a barcode that can be clearly determined as a cleared product.

As for the PoS operation in this embodiment, the scanner 2 (
When the barcode in 3) is read and a normal reading is recognized, the scanner 2 outputs the "normal recognition mark" in (3), passes the data to the PoS main body 1, and reads the PLU (Price Lookup) and amount. Performs aggregation and processes settlement of amounts.

Figure 3 is an example of an application of this "normal recognition mark" output function, in which a barcode is scanned and read sequentially from the top, and a normal recognition mark "○" is placed next to the barcode on the line that has been successfully read. 31 is a scanned line because there is no normal recognition mark, and 32 is a line that has been scanned twice because there are two normal recognition marks.

As explained above, in the present invention, when a barcode of a product or price tag list, etc. is scanned with a barcode recognition device,
By outputting a "normal recognition mark" upon normal reading, it is possible to distinguish between paid and unpaid items at the POS register, and when a theft is detected in a store, it is possible to strongly assert that the item is an unpaid item. It serves as a check on customers and helps prevent theft. As a result, product loss due to theft, which is a cause of product loss, can be reduced and product management accuracy can be improved.
