Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject impression material readily producible and having excellent preservability or accuracy of gypsum model preventing the generation of dust in using by co-using an impression material comprising alginic acid salt, gelling agent, gelling-controller and filler with a polyether-modified silicone oil containing hydrophilic group. CONSTITUTION:Alginic acid salt such as sodium alginate or potassium alginate is mixed with a gelling agent such as calcium sulfate dihydrate or calcium sulfate half-hydrate, a gelling-controller such as sodium salt or potassium salt of phosphoric acid, silicic acid or carbonic acid, etc., and a filler such as diatomaceous earth, silicic acid anhydride or talc as essential ingredients to obtain a powdery impression material of alginic acid salt. Next, said impression material is mixed with 1-5wt.% polyether-modified silicone oil containing hydrophilic group expressed by the formula (R is hydrophilic group such as COOH, OH, NH2 or CONH2) as dust scattering-inhibitor to afford the objective dustless impression material having the above-mentioned effect, namely, readily mixed and produced and generating only a slight amount of dust in using.

Traditionally, alginate impression materials contain sodium or potassium alginate as the alginate, calcium sulfate dihydrate or hemihydrate as the gelling agent, sodium or potassium salts such as phosphoric acid, silicic acid, carbonate, etc. as the gelling agent, and fillers as the filler. The ingredients include diatomaceous earth, silicic anhydride, and talc.

Alginate impression material powder has a tendency to separate into storage components in the container, and the container must be shaken to homogenize the contents prior to use. Therefore, when the lid of the container is opened, dust is scattered, and when mixed with water, there is a high risk that the dust will be scattered and the user will inhale it, which is not good for health.

In order to prevent this drawback, a patent application was published in 1986-501.
No. 426 uses xanthan gum, hydroxyethyl or hydroxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium or potassium polyalginate, polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, polybutylene glycol, ethylene glycol, propylene as a coating agent to prevent powder scattering. Impression materials containing glycol, triethanolamine, lauryl sulfate, sucrose butyrate, chrycerol esters, etc. are disclosed.

The content of polyether-modified silicone oil containing hydrophilic groups (hereinafter referred to as modified silicone oil), which is an essential component of the present invention, is 1 to 5% by weight, and if it is less than 1%, no dust scattering prevention effect is observed. Moreover, if it exceeds 5%, it becomes difficult to knead.
