Conventionally, in the liquid junction structure of such a reference electrode, a liquid junction member made of a porous material is interposed in a conduit filled with an electrolyte solution. If the lower end of this liquid junction member is covered with air bubbles, the salt bridge will be blocked, making it impossible to measure the potential.

FIG. 1 is a sectional view of an embodiment of the present invention,
Silver, silver chloride reference electrodes are shown. KCl in case 2
An electrolyte solution 3 consisting of is stored, and an electrode rod 4 is immersed in this electrolyte solution 3. Electrode rod 4
is constructed by coating the outer circumference of a rod-shaped body made of Ag with AgCl. A tube body 5 communicates with the lower part of the case 2, and liquid junction members 6 and 7 are interposed in the tube body 5 at intervals in the tube axis direction.
The liquid junction members 6 and 7 are made of a porous material, such as ceramic such as zirconia or alumina, or wood such as cedar or paulownia. Between the liquid junction members 6 and 7, the tube body 5 is filled with an electrolyte solution 8, which is KCl. The electrolyte solution 3,
8 is prevented from being washed away and a salt bridge is formed.

According to the present invention, at least the downwardly facing ends 6a, 7a of the liquid junction members 6, 7 are formed in a tapered shape. The tube body 5 and the liquid junction members 6, 7 have circular cross sections perpendicular to the axis, and their lower ends 6a, 7a are formed into rounded conical shapes. Therefore, even if air bubbles 9 are present in the tube body 5 when filling the electrolyte solution 8 between the liquid junction members 6 and 7 via the liquid junction member 7, the air bubbles 9 will be removed from the liquid junction members 6 and 7. lower end 6a,
It exists near the radial outer circumference of 7a. Therefore, the tips of the lower ends 6a, 7a can always be in contact with the electrolyte solution 8. In this way it is avoided that the salt bridges are blocked by air bubbles 9.

2 to 8 are partial sectional views of other embodiments of the present invention. In each of these embodiments, parts corresponding to those in the previous embodiment are given the same reference numerals. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the lower end 10a of the liquid junction member 10 is cut along a plane that intersects the axis of the liquid junction member 10. In the embodiment shown in FIG. The lower end 23a of the liquid junction member 23 has a conical shape. Further, in the embodiment shown in the third figure, the ends of the liquid junction members 11 and 12 are conical. In the embodiment shown in the fourth figure, the liquid junction member 13
The lower end 13a has a conical shape at its radially inner portion. The lower end portion 14a of the liquid junction member 14 is sharply formed only in a portion thereof in the circumferential direction. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the lower end 15a of the liquid junction member 15
has a small diameter, and the lower end 16a of the other liquid junction member 16 has a semicircular arc cross section and extends downward. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 6, the lower end 17a of the liquid junction member 17 is semicircular and the lower end 18a of the other liquid junction member 18 is also semispherical. 7th
In the illustrated embodiment, the lower ends 19a, 20a of the liquid junction members 19, 20 are truncated cones. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 8, the lower end 21a of the liquid junction member 21 is tapered downward into a truncated cone shape.
The space between the liquid junction member 22 and the other liquid junction member 22 is filled with the electrolyte solution 8 as described above.
