However, robots or automatic devices currently in practical use cannot lift or carry objects of a certain shape, size, or weight, or carry out certain tasks such as processing or assembly. Currently, this can only be done using a program. On the other hand, due to the diversification of consumer groups, there is a strong tendency towards high-mix, low-volume production, and FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System)
There is a call for the development of an automation technology called a curing system. In this trend of automation, robots and automatic machines need to be equipped with various sensors that replace human sense organs, and take quick and accurate actions based on the information.

Furthermore, a short-range sensor using ultrasonic waves is indispensable in order to image an object in an invisible environment filled with smoke or the like.

The upper electrode 105) is a polyester film shaped like an electrode. FIG. 2(b) is a schematic diagram of the surface. Its operating principle is similar to that of so-called condenser speakers and condenser microphones. That is, when a DC bias of about 30 to IOOV is applied between the lower electrode 103 and the upper electrode 105 and an AC signal is applied, the polyester membrane 106 vibrates, and the spring action of the air trapped in the air reservoir 107 causes a superfluid to be released into the air. When a sound wave is transmitted and an ultrasonic wave enters from the outside, the polyester membrane 106 vibrates due to the pressure change, and the capacitance of the pair of capacitors formed by the upper electrode 105 and the lower electrode 103 changes. It is possible to receive ultrasonic signals by converting them into electrical signals. In particular, if the lower electrode is used as an array electrode as shown in Figure 2, and AC signals with different phases are input to each electrode of the array, each ultrasonic element will oscillate ultrasonic waves with different phases, and the synthesized wave will move forward depending on the phase. can be directed in any direction. Further, ultrasonic signals input from any direction can be reproduced as a distance image by delaying and combining the electric signals from each electrode. In particular, when an ultrasonic transducer with this structure is used as a delivery device, it is necessary to transmit extremely weak signals, as shown in Figure 2 (e).
Impedance conversion is performed using a circuit as shown in the figure below, and the output is output to an amplifier.

It has the excellent feature that it can be formed on a silicon substrate and that the frequency band can be controlled by changing the size of a large number of holes formed with precision on the silicon surface. However, It has been found that when this type of sensor is mounted on a robot or the like, it is subject to significant electromagnetic noise from the motor and power supply, resulting in a deterioration of the S/N ratio.

By differentially receiving signals from each channel of these two types of transducers, in-phase portions such as electromagnetic noise are removed and the S/N ratio is increased.

An array transducer having the structure shown in FIG. 1(a) is manufactured using a manufacturing method similar to that of the conventional example. For convenience of explanation, the polyester film is not shown in the drawings. Upper half of the same figure 1
1 allows ultrasonic waves to enter, while the lower half 12 is a housing that prevents ultrasonic waves from entering. In other words, the protective cover for upper part 11 is one with holes (for example, net-like).
The protective cover of the lower half 12 shall not have any holes. An array transducer that is mounted so that no ultrasonic waves are incident is herein referred to as a dummy transducer. The transducer thus obtained is connected as shown in the circuit diagram of FIG. 1(b). In the figure, 15 is an array transducer, and 16 is a dummy transducer. In FIG. 1(a), a bias is commonly applied to the corresponding transducers across the boundary line between the upper half 1l and the lower half 12 from a DC bias power supply 17, and the output is inputted to a differential amplifier 18. Output 1 of channels 1, 2, ... of the ultrasonic array transducer obtained in this way
, 2, . . . and it was found that the common mode noise was removed and the S/N ratio was improved by about 3 times.

In addition, by adopting such a differential configuration, it was possible to omit a coupling capacitor with a large dielectric strength, connect a small amplifier to each channel, and have the advantage of being able to use an ultrasonic array transducer with a built-in amplifier.
