Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate a projecting shape on the surface of a supporting body and to prevent damages caused by hitting during the manufacture of conveyance by embedding a cooling pipe wherein refrigerant passes in a cryogenic supporting body for supporting a superconductive coil in a cryogenic state. CONSTITUTION:A groove 4 is formed in a cryogenic supporting body 2. A cooling pipe 5 wherein refrigerant passes is embedded in to said groove 4. Thereafter, the pipe is connected mechanically and thermally to the supporting body 2 by welding. When the refrigerant 5 is made to flow in the pipe 5, intrusion of heat into the superconductive coil from the outside can be prevented. When the cooling pipe is embedded in the supporting body, a projecting shape on the surface of the supporting body is not formed, and damages due to shocks during the manufacture and conveyance can be prevented.

Next, the operation will be explained. The superconducting coil (1) is cooled by a coolant such as liquid helium or supercritical pressure helium, and is maintained in a superconducting state. The support body (2) functions as a stand to support the electromagnetic force generated when the superconducting coil (1) is energized, and to support the superconducting coil (1) from the outside. It functions as a heat shield from the intrusion of heat. The mechanical function of the support (2) is ensured by the support (2) itself, but the thermal function is provided by liquid in the cooling tube (3) disposed on the surface of the support (2). By flowing helium, supercritical pressure helium,
This function is ensured.
