布の上端を1枚置きの濾板の上方に突設された上
部ローラの両側に紐によって吊下げ、まず上部ロ
ーラを一方向へ回転させて片側のU字状濾布を下
降させることによりこの部分の脱水ケーキを落下
させ、次に上部ローラを反対向きに回転させて反
対側のU字状濾布内の脱水ケーキを落下させる形
式のフイルタープレスを先に考案した。この形式
のフイルタープレスは脱水ケーキの排出を円滑に
行うことができるので広く実用に供されている
が、上部ローラを濾板の上方に濾板の高さと同程
度離して設置しなければならないので、フイルタ
ープレス装置の全高が極めて高くなり、天井の高
い建屋が必要となるという欠点が指摘されてい
