Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent paper from being fed askew or slipping off from a tractor and further prevent a disordered printing or a breakage of paper by providing a means for judging a line feed code to detect a line feed amount larger than a predetermined line feed amount and a means for moving a printing head to the center of a platen prior to a line feed action in accordance with the detection signal. CONSTITUTION:Printing data is processed inside a microprocessor 4. A printing head 1 is driven by an output from an output port O1, a printing head moving motor 2 is rotated by an output from an output port O2, and a line feed motor 3 is rotated by an output from an output port O3. With the detection of a line feed code in the input data, continuous line feed codes are all added and, thereafter, the total line feed amount is compared with a predetermined value. If the line feed amount is judged to be larger in the comparison, a printing head is firstly moved to the center of a platen and, thereafter, a line feed action is started. On the other hand, the line feed amount is judged to be smaller in the comparison, a line feed action is immediately started.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a printer used in computers, data terminal equipment, and the like.

Conventional printers independently control the feedthrough operation and printhead movement. Therefore, there is no particular need to change the movement of the print head depending on the amount of line feed.

Figures 3(a) and 3(b) show examples of conventional printers, respectively, to explain paper skew due to the moment that occurs when the print head position of a printer is biased to the left or right and the changeover operation is performed. It is a conceptual diagram.

As shown in FIG. 3(a), when a line feed operation is performed when the print head 5 is on the left, the difference between the line feed force and the running load causes the print paper 7 wound around the platen 6 to rotate counterclockwise. Moment works.

Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 3(b), if a line feed operation is performed when the print head 5 is on the right, a clockwise moment is generated on the print paper 7 due to the relationship between the line feed force and the running load. .

Therefore, if the print head is biased to the left or right during a line feed, a counterclockwise or clockwise moment will act due to the running load.In particular, as the line feed amount increases, the line feed speed will also increase, and this moment This has the disadvantage that the paper may be skewed or fall off the tractor, leading to irregular printing and damage to the paper.

As shown in FIG. 1, this embodiment uses a microprocessor 4.
The print data is read from the input port Il. The print data is processed inside the microprocessor 4, the print head 1 is driven by the output port 01, the motor 2 for moving the print head is driven by the output port 02, and the motor 3 for line feed is driven by the output port 03. Each can be rotated.

Next, when a line feed code is found in the input data, all consecutive line feed codes are added together, and the total line feed amount is compared with a predetermined value. Here, if the line feed amount is larger, the print head is first moved to the center of the platen, and then line feed is started.

As explained above, in the printer of the present invention, the running load of the print head is applied to the center of the paper when a large number of line feeds occur, so no moment is applied to the paper, and the resulting paper is prevented from running skewed or falling off from the tractor. This has the effect that printing results with greater depth can be obtained without this occurrence.

Further, the present invention has the effect that the movement of the print head is minimized during normal printing and line feed, and a decrease in throughput can be avoided.
