Conventionally, as a means for detecting a lack of water in the liquid container of an electric water heater, for example, a metal pipe for detecting water amount is connected to a metal liquid container, and a constant current is passed between the liquid container and the pipe. A device that determines whether the amount of water in a liquid container has fallen below a predetermined level based on changes in electrical conductivity between There are methods that determine whether the amount of water has fallen below a predetermined level.

However, in the former case, it is necessary to connect a metal pipe to the liquid container in addition to the liquid level display pipe, which increases the number of parts and makes the structure complex. Since a current is passed between the liquid container and the liquid container, the water in the liquid container is electrolyzed, resulting in deterioration or discoloration of the water. In addition, the latter method has a drawback, which is not the same as the former method, in that if water scale or the like adheres to the liquid level display pipe, the detection accuracy decreases.

In the water shortage detection electrode according to the present invention, an insulating bobbin with a flange is provided on the outer periphery of a pipe arranged to communicate with a liquid container, and the electrode is sandwiched between the bobbin and a holder. The electrode bodies are insulated from each other, and a conductive shield cover is provided on the outside of the holder, and this shield cover holds the holder on the bobbin, ensuring that the outer circumference of the pipe is Installation can be done on. The electrode body is provided outside the liquid container and the pipe connected to the liquid container, so it is hygienic because it does not come into contact with the water in the liquid container. Moreover, no current flows through the water, so electricity is generated. Since no decomposition occurs, the water never deteriorates in quality or changes in color.
Furthermore, even if limescale adheres to the pipe, a shortage of water can be reliably detected.

Since the command stops, the alarm 41 stops sounding and the indicator light 42
will also stop blinking. That is, when the water level in the liquid container 4 is higher than the water shortage detection electrode 10, no signal is output from the switching circuit 33. Note that these operations are performed by the microcomputer 20.
