Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a brine free from corrosion of metal, decay, generation of a malodor, etc., by mixing an aqueous ethylene glycol solution of a specified concentration with an isothiazoline compound, a bromine compound, and a corrosion inhibitor, and adjusting the pH to a specified range. CONSTITUTION:A 4-20wt.% ethylene glycol solution (A) in water is mixed with an isothiazoline compound (B) (e.g. 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one), a bromine compound (C) (e.g. 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol), and a corrosion inhibitor (D) (e.g. sodium nitrite) to form a solution. The pH of the solution is adjusted to a range from 7 to 11, giving a brine composition. Since the obtained composition contains components B and C which have excellent antibacterial properties, it does not cause a malodor, decay, etc., due to a putrescible organic matter. Also, because of the incorporation of component D, it corrodes neither a refrigerator nor metals that constitute a cooling apparatus.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) Calcium chloride aqueous solutions are generally used as brine, which is a heat transfer medium, but there is a problem in that the durability of the equipment is short because it corrodes the metals that make up the refrigeration equipment and cooling equipment. be. On the other hand, as brine which is a heat transfer medium, ethylene glycol and propylene glycol have superior corrosion resistance compared to an aqueous calcium chloride solution. However, brines in refrigeration and cooling equipment that use low-concentration ethylene glycol (4 to 20% by weight) for long periods of time are decomposed and oxidized by bacteria, bacteria, microorganisms, etc., resulting in deterioration of brine performance and generation of bad odors. becomes noticeable and the working environment deteriorates. Furthermore, there is a problem that the durability of the equipment is short because it corrodes the metals that make up the refrigeration equipment and the cooling equipment.

When ethylene glycol comes into contact with air, it is oxidized by bacteria, bacteria, microorganisms, etc., producing acidic alcohols or oxides of ethylene glycol. This acidic ethylene glycol promotes corrosion of various metals that constitute refrigeration equipment and cooling equipment. Corrosion of various metals constituting refrigeration equipment and cooling equipment causes a decrease in thermal conductivity or blockage of pipes due to deposition of corrosion products.

The isothiazoline compounds and bromine compounds used in the present invention have antibacterial properties, and simply adding a small amount to brine solves various problems such as foul odors and corrosion caused by putrefying organic substances. Furthermore, since it has extremely low metal corrosivity, it is very advantageous in terms of preventing rust. Therefore, the brine containing the isothiazoline compound and the bromine compound of the present invention can be used for a long period of time and does not corrode the metals constituting the refrigeration equipment and cooling equipment, thereby improving the durability of the equipment. Furthermore, it is useful for improving the working environment.
