BACKGROUND ART FIG. 1 shows a so-called maintenance-free sealed battery. In Figure 1, 1 is a battery case, 2 is a battery case lid that covers this battery case 1, and 3 is a 1
Two anode plates made of lead and lead-calcium alloy are provided per cell, 4 is a cathode plate made of lead and lead-calcium alloy, three pieces are provided per cell, 5 is an anode, and cathode plates 3 and 4 are arranged between A cotton-like separator made of glass fiber with a wire diameter of 1 μm or less, 6,7
8 and 9 are positive and negative electrode terminals, respectively, which are installed over two anode plates 3 and three cathode plates 4, respectively. Moreover, 10 is an exhaust hole provided one per cell, and the gas exhausted from this exhaust hole 10 pushes up a rubber valve 11 provided in the center of the battery case lid 2.
It passes through the filter 12, passes through the gap between the inner lid 13 and the upper lid 14, and is discharged to the outside from an exhaust hole (not shown) formed in the side of the upper lid 14.

The battery 15 having such a configuration has a rubber valve 11 in the middle of the exhaust passage to have a completely sealed structure that prevents water from evaporating in the electrolyte, and when it comes to water splitting, the cathode plate is maintained in a discharged state and hydrogen is removed. By utilizing the so-called oxygen cycle in which gas is absorbed by the cathode plate, water replenishment is not required. In addition, by using a calcium alloy electrode plate, the formation of an electrode battery due to antimony elution in the electrode plate is prevented, and the amount of self-discharge is suppressed, thereby eliminating the need for supplementary charging when left unused for a long period of time. Furthermore, a fine glass mat prevents the electrolyte from flowing out.

When injecting electrolyte into this sealed battery,
In conventional batteries, in which the electrolyte was injected into each cell using a dropper, etc., the amount of injected liquid could be confirmed from the outside, but in the case of a battery in which the electrolyte was absorbed into the separator 5, The amount of liquid can only be confirmed before injection, and because the electrolyte used is a dedicated electrolyte with a higher specific gravity than conventional electrolytes, it is necessary to prevent misuse of conventional electrolytes.

As shown in FIG. 2, three independent packages 19, 20, 21 corresponding to each cell are connected to each other.
~21 are filled with approximately the same amount of electrolyte.
Each of the package cages 19, 20, and 21 has a tapered portion 19a having one end formed in a conical shape toward the tip.
20a, 21a, small diameter cylindrical portions 19b, 20b, 21b continuing from the tapered portion to the tip, and connecting portions 26a, 26b having a small cross section and having flexibility that connect the respective package cages 19 to 21 so as to be relatively movable. The position of one end of each package can be adjusted freely. When filling the electrolytic solution, the lower ends of the packages 19 to 21 are cut and inserted into the injection ports 16 to 18 of the battery 15, respectively, and then the upper ends of the packages 19 to 21 are cut to perform electrolysis. The liquid is uniformly filled into each cell of the battery 15.

In the electrolyte filling device having such a configuration, tapered portions 19a to 21' are connected to each package 19 to 21.
By extending the small diameter cylindrical portions 19b to 21b through a, the rigidity of the small diameter cylindrical portions 19b to 21b is maintained by the tapered portions 19a to 21a, so that the small diameter cylindrical portions 19b to 21b are deformed. In addition, the tapered parts 19a to 21a serve as a guide when injecting liquid, and each package 19 to 21 is connected to the injection port 16 of the battery 15. ~18
It is extremely easy to set up. Furthermore, since each of the package cages 19 to 21 is connected so as to be movable relative to each other by connecting portions 26a and 26b which have a small cross section and are flexible, the position of one end of each package can be adjusted. Even if two packages are slightly misaligned, there is no need to set the entire package anew, and only the misaligned package needs to be moved. It facilitates

After filling with the electrolytic solution is completed, caps 22, 23, and 24, which are connected to each other, are fitted into each of the injection ports 16 to 18 of the battery 15, making the battery 15 a sealed structure. When the caps 22 to 24 are fitted, each inlet 16 to 18 has stepped portions 16a to 16a so that the top surface of each cap is flush with the top surface of the battery 15, as shown in FIG. 1
8a, which makes it difficult to remove each of the caps 22 to 24 after fitting, and the battery 15 can be reliably maintained in a sealed state.

The caps 22-24 are integrally molded from a flexible material such as resin, and have hook portions 22a-24a as shown in FIG. 3. The hook portions 22a to 24a are elastically deformed inside the cap when inserted into the injection ports 16 to 18, and the battery 15 is removed after insertion.
It engages with the inner wall of the tube to prevent it from coming off. Also, connecting portions 25a and 25b connecting each cap 22 to 24 are provided.
has such strength that it can be easily cut when any one of the caps 22 to 24 is fitted into the injection ports 16 to 18 is removed.

Note that the sealed battery 15 is so-called maintenance-free, requiring no water refilling or supplementary charging, and has the advantage that there are no restrictions on its mounting position or mounting condition because the electrolyte does not leak even if it is placed diagonally or horizontally. Therefore, by using such a battery 15 in a motorcycle or the like and making effective use of the small space of the vehicle body or so-called dead space, the vehicle body can be made smaller and slimmer.
