Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform printing accurately within a printing range established by a user even though a printing data conforming to the paper size is not taken into consideration by a method wherein a printing stop means which stops printing at the lower end of a printing range stored in a printing range storing means is established. CONSTITUTION:A value of a printing range indicator 3, i.e. an established value of distance from the bottom end of a paper to the lower end of a printing range, can be varied by depressing a printing range setting switch 2 on an operating panel 1. The distance fro the bottom end of the paper to the lower end of the printing range is taken as A. A value of this A is stored after variation and is used for control of printing at the lower end of the paper. After receiving a printing data, a printer edits the received data. When one line of printing data is edited, printing operation is performed. Then, line feed operation to a next line is performed. In the case where a present position does not exceed the lower end of the printing range upon finish of line feed operation, editing and printing operation of the next line is performed. Further, in the case when the present position exceeds the printing range, the printing operation is stopped, and a state in which a new paper is set and printing operation is enabled is waited for.
