Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily obtain a composite resin formed body making use of the combination characteristics of two kinds of materials by making up a structure consisting of the glass fiber oriented in one direction, a sheet-like material and matrix resins. CONSTITUTION:A glass fiber reinforcing prepreg 1A containing glass fiber and a prepreg 1B containing sheet-like material are wound around unwinders 3A and 3B in a condition of being retained by release papers 2. The prepregs 1A and 1B with release papers are drawn off from the unwinders 3A and 3B, fed between press rolls 4A and 4B, joined together therebetween, advanced over a hot plate 5 and run between second press rolls 6A and 6B. In this way these prepregs 1A and 1B are formed into a single sheet, which is then cooled by a cooling means and thereafter wound around a winder 8 as a laminated prepreg 7 together with the release paper 2 on the one prepreg. The release paper 2 on the other prepreg is peeled off from the laminated prepreg 7 and wound around the other winder 9.

Conventionally, such fiber-reinforced resin prepregs have usually been formed using one type of reinforcing fiber, but when attempting to obtain a molded product that combines the characteristics of two or more types of reinforcing fibers, each A method has been used in which prepregs containing reinforcing fibers are combined and laminated, or such prepregs are laminated with other reinforcing fibers arranged between them. Further, apart from mechanical properties such as strength, no attempt has been made to impart desired fashionability to the obtained laminate.

The fiber-reinforced resin prepreg of the present invention obtained as described above is molded into a laminated composite resin molded article according to a conventional method. For example, a molded article can be obtained by winding a plurality of layers on a mandrel so as to overlap or by stacking a plurality of layers in a desired shape, and heat-treating the matrix resin to completely cure the matrix resin. Such a molded article has favorable characteristics that are a combination of the characteristics of each material. Alternatively, the prepreg of the present invention may be used as a surface layer of a resin laminate, thus providing a transparent surface appearance by having a glass fiber layer as the outermost layer.
If desired, colored glass fibers can also be used to provide a desirable colored appearance. Alternatively, the appearance and design of the sheet-like article can be expressed through this transparent glass layer, making it highly fashionable. Further, the prepreg of the present invention can also be used as a decorative surface material in various fields such as architecture, furniture, interior decoration, etc. by utilizing such characteristics.
