概略断面図である。第３図は本考案を適用した透
過型ＳＴＮ液晶表示素子の一例について分光透過
率を示す特性図である。第４図Ａおよび第４図Ｂ
は本考案を適用した反射型ＳＴＮ液晶表示素子に
おける表示の原理を説明するための概略斜視図で
あり、第４図Ａは選択時、第４図Ｂは非選択時の
状態をそれぞれ表す。第５図は本考案を適用した
反射型ＳＴＮ液晶表示素子の一例について分光反
射率を示す特性図である。第６図は従来の基本的
なＳＴＮ液晶表示素子における表示の原理を説明
するための概略斜視図である。第７図は従来の二
層セル型ＳＴＮ液晶表示素子における表示の原理
を説明するための概略斜視図である。 １ａ，１１ａ……第１の偏光板、１ｂ，１１ｂ

Claims (1)

  1. 【実用新案登録請求の範囲】 少なくとも第１の偏光板、楕円偏光を直線偏光
    に変換する変換手段と組み合わされてなるネマチ
    ツク液晶セル、および第２の偏光板が光路に沿つ
    て順次配列されてなる液晶表示素子において、 前記変換手段により得られる直線偏光の偏光軸
    と前記第２の偏光板の偏光軸とが互いに平行とさ
    れていることを特徴とする液晶表示素子。
