Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of a cutting edge part and to enable satisfactorily cutting recording paper by moving the cutting edge part of a cutter, which moves while being guided by the guide face of a rail member, in the direction intersecting to a cutting direction. CONSTITUTION:A guide face 72 inclining from one end side toward the other end side is formed in a rail member 74 and a cutter 78 guided by this guide face 72 moves simultaneously in the directions of the arrows X and Z. Therefore, because the cutting edge part 76 of the cutter 78 cuts a recording paper 20 as it is displaced in the direction of the arrow Z, the damage of the cutting edge part 76 can be prevented effectively while the recording paper 20 is not always cut by the same part of the cutting edge part 76. At the time of cutting by the cutter 78, further, both sides of the cutting part of the recording paper 20 are biased and held by rollers 80a, 80b so that the recording paper 20 can be cut accurately and surely.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, in the above-mentioned prior art, when the cutter is moved in a direction intersecting the conveying direction of the recording paper, the recording paper is always cut by the same cutting blade, so this problem occurs. This will result in significant damage to the cutting edge. As a result, the cutter is more likely to have cutting defects, and the cutter must be replaced relatively frequently, which complicates the work and increases costs.

[Function] In the recording paper cutting mechanism of the image recording apparatus according to the present invention configured as described above, when the recording paper is conveyed to a predetermined length after image recording is completed, the recording paper is cut along the direction intersecting the conveyance direction. A cutter is moved along a guide member disposed at a position where the recording paper is cut. At this time, the guide member is formed to be inclined from one end side to the other end side with respect to the cutting direction, and the cutting edge of the cutter that moves while being guided by the guide member moves in a direction intersecting the cutting direction. Move to. Therefore, a part of the cutting edge is not always in contact with the recording paper, and the durability of the cutter can be improved.

When the cutter is moved along a rail member that is piped in a direction that intersects the conveyance direction of the recording paper, the cutting edge of the cutter that moves while being guided by the guide surface of this rail member is aligned with the cutting direction. Since it moves in the intersecting direction, a part of this cutting edge does not always come into contact with the recording paper. Therefore, damage to the cutting edge portion can be effectively prevented, the durability of the cutter is improved at once, and recording paper cutting work can be carried out efficiently and favorably.
