Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the induction of the external noises and to reduce the installing space of this rotary drum device by performing the optical transmission/reception of signals between the rotary drum and the outside of the drum by means of an optical transmission means provided in a rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:A 1st electrooptical conversion means 7a is provided outside a rotary drum 1 and outputs the recording optical signals after converting the electric signals to be recorded into the optical signals. Meanwhile a 1st photoelectric converting means 5a is provided in the drum 1 and supplies the received recording optical signals to a recording head 2 after converting them into the electric signals. Furthermore, a 2nd electrooptical converting means 5b is provided in the drum 1 and converts the electric signals regenerated by a reproduction head 2 into the optical signals to output the reproduced optical signals. Then a 2nd photoelectric converting means 7b is provided outside the drum 1 and converts the received reproduced optical signals into the electric signals. An optical transmission means 4a is added within a rotary shaft of the drum 1 and transmits the reproduced optical signals and the recording optical signals. In such a constitution, the signals are transmitted/received between the inside and the outside of the drum 1 by means of the optical signals. Thus no external noise is produced and the installing space is reduced for a rotary drum device.
