It has two functions: a charging function that charges dust in the air, and a dust collection function that collects the charged dust. The dust collection characteristics of such an electrostatic precipitator are approximately proportional to the discharge current characteristics of the charging section (ionizer). In the charging section, it is important from a design standpoint, such as safety, to flow as much discharge current as possible at the lowest possible voltage. Therefore, the discharge electrode of the charging section needs to have a sufficiently smaller surface area and volume than the counter electrode, be held parallel to the counter electrode surface, and minimize the contact area with the support member. For this purpose, a thin metal wire or the like stretched by a spring body or the like is used as the discharge electrode.

An electrostatic precipitator is provided with a charging section on the upstream side of the flow of air to be purified, and a dust collecting section (not shown) on the downstream side. In Figure 4,
Reference numeral 1 denotes an ionizer frame, and in the ionizer frame 1, discharge electrodes 2 and counter electrodes 3 made of thin metal wires having a diameter of about 100 μm are alternately arranged at appropriate intervals. 4 is a power lead wire, 5 is a lead wire faston terminal, 6 is an electrode terminal, 7 is a terminal fixing member for fixing the electrode terminal 6 to the frame 1, 8 is a latch terminal, and the discharge electrode 2 is made of a thin metal wire. One end is connected to the electrode terminal 6 via the coil spring 9, and the other end is latched to the latch terminal 8 and pulled so as to be parallel to the surface of the opposing electrode 3. In this example, a (+) high voltage is applied to the discharge electrode 2 to generate corona discharge, and the dust 10 in the air is charged. On the other hand, the dust collecting section (not shown) is composed of a dust collecting electrode and a counter electrode that are arranged opposite to each other with an appropriate interval. A voltage is applied between these two electrodes, and the dust 10 charged in the charging section is collected.

There was a risk that the coil spring 9 would come off the electrode terminal and come into contact with a live electrical part 15 of an air conditioner controller or the like, or be caught in a functional operating part, thereby damaging the performance of the air conditioner. ■When the discharge electrode was disconnected, there was a risk that it would come off from the coil spring or electrode terminal and be lost.
