Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain high sealing property by using magnetic sponge rubber on at least a touch face partly or overall in a sponge seal portion in a weather strip having a fitting base and a sponge seal for sealing a gap between a door body and a vehicle body. CONSTITUTION:In a door-fitting type weather strip, on the touch face of a hollow seal 3 and on the fitting-sash touch face of a fitting base 1, a magnetic sponge rubber 5, 7 of a specified width is used only on the surface layer. A material represented by ternary copolymerization rubber (simply as EPDM) which is obtained by the copolymerization of ethylene and propylene added with a small quantity of unconjugated diene to introduce double bond in the side chain, thereby enabling the sulfur vulcanization is used as EPR constituting the weather strip body. An EPR compound mixed with a specified quantity of a highly-holding magnetic material is used as a magnetic foaming rubber. Strontium ferrite or barium ferrite having a hexagonal crystal structure, suitable as an anisotropic magnet, is used as a magnetic material.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] <Industrial Application Field> The present invention is molded from an ethylene propylene rubber (abbreviation: EPR) compound, and is attached to a sponge that seals between the base 1, the door body, and the vehicle body. The present invention relates to an automobile weather strip having a seal portion 5. Specifically, for door installation, we use the mold door weather strip (Figs. 1 to 5 and Fig. 7), and for body installation, we use the mold door weather strip (Fig. 5), the trunk lit weather strip (Fig. 6), etc. The invention is applicable.

Means for Solving the Problems> In order to solve the above problems, the inventors of the present invention discovered that, in the process of making earnest efforts in development, the present inventors discovered that even if EPR was mixed with a large amount of high-coercivity magnetic material (inorganic filler), , especially for oil-extended types,
We have found that the physical properties (tensile strength and elongation), which are major factors in sealing properties, have little or almost no decline, and have come up with an automotive weather strip with the following configuration.

(3) After mixing, the above compound is extruded into a sheet by simultaneously extruding the weatherstrip body while orienting the magnetic material (multi-color extrusion), or by two-color injection molding, or by roll rolling while orienting the magnetic material. It is made into a vulcanized product through vulcanization processes such as microwave vulcanization, steam vulcanization, hot air vulcanization, and pressure vulcanization. The vulcanizate (weather strip or sheet) is magnetized by a magnetizer.

(1) Fig. 1... The door is attached to the abutting surface of the hollow seal part 3 of the mold weather strip, and the mounting sash of the base 1 is attached to the magnetic sponge rubber part 5.7 with a predetermined width only on the surface layer. It is said that In this embodiment, the main body portion and the magnetic sponge rubber portion forming portion are simultaneously molded and vulcanized by two-color extrusion, and then magnetized to form the magnetic sponge rubber portion. Further, in this embodiment, since the thickness of the magnetic sponge rubber portion is usually small, one filled with a high amount of magnetic material is used (for example, Examples 5 and 6 in Table 2). In this case, even if the hardness of the magnetic rubber is high, since it is thin, it will have little effect on the sealing performance of the hollow seal portion.

In addition, as in these embodiments, by using the magnetic sponge rubber portion 7 as the abutting portion of the mounting sash, the sealing performance between the mounting sash 12 and the mounting base 1 is improved. Moreover, solid magnetic rubber parts may be used instead of the magnetic sponge rubber parts 7, and they may be arranged at a predetermined pitch. In this case, it is possible to reduce the number of attachment means such as clips normally provided on the base 1.

(3) Fig. 3: The abutting surface portion of the hollow seal portion 3 is made of a magnetic sponge rubber portion 5A over the entire thickness. In this embodiment, the wall thickness of the magnetic sponge rubber portion 5A can be increased, and a large magnetic force can be obtained. Therefore, it is possible to use a formulation that is not highly filled with magnetic material and has a small surface hardness (for example, , Table 2 Examples 3 and 4).
