Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to display the remaining quantity in a battery part automatically by providing a switch means which is automatically operated when a battery is mounted in a portable apparatus, and connecting a remaining quantity detecting part to the battery part through the switch means. CONSTITUTION:When a battery is mounted in the main body of a built-in camera type handy VTR, terminals 13 and 14 on the positive side and the negative side are connected to the positive-side terminal and the negative-side terminal of the main body of the VTR. A switch 10 is thrown to the opposite side. A capacitor C2 is charged from a charging-type nickel - cadmium battery 11 through resistors R1 and R2. A transistor Tr is turned ON. Thus, the current flows through a load resistor 15 from the battery 11 by way of a temperature fuse 12. Therefore, the terminal voltage of the battery 11 is applied to comparators 16a - 16c while the current flows through the resistor 15. When the threshold values of the comparators are set as 16a > 16b > 16c, LEDs 9a - 9c are lit when the battery 11 is fully charged. When the battery 11 is used by some extent, the LEDs 9b and 9c are lit. When the charged capacity becomes less, only the LED 9c is lit. When the charged capacity becomes zero, the LEDs 9a - 9c are not lit.

1, the capacitor C2 is charged via the resistors R1 and R2, and during this charging period, the transistor T which is the switching means is charged.
r is turned on. As a result of this turning on, current flows from the NiCd battery 11 to the load resistor 15 through the temperature fuse 12. This load resistor 15 is used to measure the terminal voltage of the battery 11 by flowing a certain amount of current, since an accurate value will not be obtained if the terminal voltage of the battery 11 is measured without applying a load. Therefore, comparators 16a~
At 16c, the battery 11 is connected while the current is flowing through the load resistor 15.
Therefore, if the threshold voltage of the comparator is set to 16a>16b>16c, when the battery 11 is fully charged, the LEDs 9a to 9c will be applied.

In the one shown in Fig. 5 above, current flows simultaneously to the load resistor 15 while the transistor Tr is on, but the load circuit, voltage detection converter, and display section are connected through separate routes. For example, the current flowing through the load resistor 15 can be passed in a short time, and the display lighting time can be extended accordingly.
