Abstract

PURPOSE:To impart a cellulosic fiber cloth with particular feeling, i.e., soft touch with durable squeaking nature and transparent feeling. CONSTITUTION:A cellulosic fiber cloth is treated with sulfuric acid and subjected to a low-temperature gas plasma treatment. A particular feeling unattainable by separate treatment can be attained by the combination of the sulfuric acid treatment and the low-temperature gas plasma treatment. The cloth treated by this process is useful for shirts and casual wears.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Conventionally, organdy processing using sulfuric acid or heparin processing has been known as a method for imparting a special texture to cellulose fibers, especially cotton. In other words, organdy processing and heparine processing are performed by immersing fine count high-quality fabrics such as lawn and voile made of cellulose fibers in a concentrated aqueous solution of sulfuric acid at 5 to 20°C for a short period of time to create a squeaky and transparent feel. However, products obtained by conventional organdy finishing and heparin finishing have a too stiff feel, making them unsuitable for clothing and limiting their use.

[0003] In order to solve the problem of the texture being too hard, Japanese Patent Publication No. 2846/1984 also describes a method of adding an organic acid having 6 or more carbon atoms (for example, heptyl acid) to the sulfuric acid bath. JP-A-59-76967 discloses that a water-soluble organic solution (e.g., ethyl alcohol) of a monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (e.g., O-xylene) is applied to a cellulosic fiber fabric, and then this solution is applied to a undried state. A method of impregnating it with concentrated sulfuric acid has been proposed.

In addition, when the texture becomes too stiff, there are known chemical methods in which a surfactant such as a softener is applied to the fabric, and physical methods in which the fabric is rubbed with a calendar, spiral brake, etc.

TW, the temperature condition is preferably in the range of 5 to 20°C,
Preferably, the treatment time is approximately 1 to 10 seconds. When the sulfuric acid concentration is high, the temperature is high, and the time is long, the cellulose fibers deteriorate and the physical properties deteriorate significantly. On the other hand, the sulfuric acid concentration is low;
When the temperature is low and the treatment time is short, the sulfuric acid treatment has no effect, and the desired squeaky, taut, stiff feeling does not occur, and the organdy feeling does not develop at all.

That is, gas can be placed under vacuum between parallel plate electrodes connected to a high frequency generator, and plasma can be generated using the parallel plates either outside or inside the vacuum chamber. Alternatively, an electric field may be created by an external induction coil to generate a plasma of ionized gas, or a plasma may be generated by placing oppositely charged electrodes spaced apart directly into a vacuum chamber.

The gas used for plasma processing is oxygen, nitrogen, helium, argon alone or a mixture of two or more thereof. Carbon monoxide air can also be used. However, the higher the mixing ratio of oxygen, the higher the reforming effect and the faster the processing speed, and in normal industrial production, the oxygen content is preferably 5% or more.

The degree of vacuum in the processing machine during plasma processing is preferably 0.05 to 10 Torr as long as low-temperature plasma is generated by high-frequency irradiation and the temperature of the processing atmosphere is such that it does not damage the fabric to be processed. is 0.3T
It is appropriate that it is in the range of orr to 2 Torr.

[0018] The reduced pressure condition is 0.05 Torr to 10 Torr.
The reason for this limitation is that if the degree of vacuum is 10 Torr or more, the generation of low-temperature plasma will become unstable, and the temperature of the processing atmosphere will rise, which may damage the fabric to be processed. This is because maintaining the pressure at a high degree of vacuum not only increases costs but also reduces the gas concentration, which may reduce the plasma processing effect.

The frequency of the radio frequency irradiated to generate low-temperature plasma can be used in a fairly wide range from long wavelength to short wavelength, but is preferably 1 MHz to 3000 MHz.
Those in the z range are easy to use. In practice, due to regulations such as the Radio Law, 13.56MHz, 27.12MHz, 40MHz
.. It is preferable to use one of 68 MHz, 915 MHz, and 2450 MHz.

[0020] When high frequency energy is applied to gas molecules at a reduced pressure of 0.1 to 10 Torr, the gas molecules are excited, generate low-temperature plasma, and become highly reactive. The cellulose fiber fabric is treated in this plasma atmosphere.

[0021] The treatment time varies slightly depending on the weight of the fabric, density, content of volatile components such as moisture, high frequency irradiation conditions, gas concentration, pressure, or the required modification effect, but generally it is 1 to 30 minutes.
It should be done for about 600 seconds, more preferably 5 to 45 seconds.
