【表】DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a novel lithium recovery agent and a method for recovering lithium at high temperatures. Lithium is used in many fields, such as batteries, glass,
Used in ceramics, Al/Li alloys for aircraft, etc. In the future, demand for lithium is expected to be used as a fusion fuel, a heat transport medium, or a coolant in nuclear fusion reactors, and the consumption of lithium is expected to increase significantly. Currently, the United States has an oligopoly in lithium production, accounting for 65-70% of the world's production, but Japan lacks lithium ore resources and relies entirely on imports. However, even in Japan, geothermal water and hot spring water, which are relatively abundant in Japan, often contain lithium, albeit at a low concentration, and recovery agents that can efficiently recover lithium from dilute solutions containing lithium are needed. There is a strong demand for development and establishment of recovery technology. Conventionally, as a recovery agent for recovering lithium from a dilute solution containing lithium, hydrated aluminum oxide (Journal of the Japan Mining Industry Association, Vol. 99, 585,
1983), Hydrous Tin Oxide (Journal of the Japan Mining Society, Vol. 99,
931, 1983), tin antimonate (Solv.Extr.and
Ion Exchange. Vol. 1, 97, 1983), titanium antimonate (Chem. Lett., Vol. 1983, 1561,
1983), Layered Titanates (J.Phy.Chem., Vol. 86,
5023, 1982), manganese oxide with ion sieve effect (Izv.Akad.Nauk.SSSR.Neorg.
Mater., a, 1041, 1973), manganese dioxide (Journal of the Japan Mining Association, Vol. 102, 307, 1986), etc. However, the above-mentioned recovery agents have the disadvantage that their adsorption capacity for lithium decreases rapidly at high temperatures, and their adsorption capacity is low for all substances other than manganese dioxide, making them unsuitable for use in recovering lithium from geothermal hot water, etc. It is thought that. In order to practically recover lithium from high-temperature dilute solutions such as geothermal hot water and hot spring water containing lithium, it is necessary to increase the selectivity for lithium over other coexisting cations such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which have large dissolved amounts. There is a need for the development of a recovery agent that has excellent properties, has a large adsorption capacity, and is capable of recovering lithium at high temperatures. An object of the present invention is to provide a lithium recovery agent and a lithium recovery method that can satisfy the above requirements. As a result of many years of intensive research into lithium recovery, the present inventors discovered that a certain type of layered silicate is suitable for the above purpose, and have invented a new lithium recovery agent and a method for recovering lithium at high temperatures. I've reached it. That is, the present invention relates to a lithium recovery agent characterized by containing a di-octahedral swelling silicate having a negative charge in an octahedral sheet, and a lithium recovery method using the recovery agent. Next, the lithium recovery agent and lithium recovery method of the present invention will be described. The 2-octahedral swellable silicate that can be used in the present invention is a compound that falls under the category of layered silicates.
Layered silicates have a 2:1 structure in which the basic layer is a silicate layer sandwiching one octahedral sheet between two silica tetrahedral sheets, and the basic structure in which a tetrahedral sheet and an octahedral sheet are overlapped. It is broadly classified into two types: 1:1 type structure with layers. Also, focusing on the occupancy rate of cation seats in the octahedral sheet, the one in which cations occupy all of the cation seats is called a 3-octahedral sheet, and the one in which cations occupy 2/3 of the cation seats is called a 3-octahedral sheet. - It is divided into octahedral shapes. The cation in the octahedral sheet is 3-
In the case of octahedral type, divalent ions such as Mg 2+ and Fe 2+ ,
In the case of the 2-octahedral type, trivalent ions such as Al 3+ and Fe 3+ are the main components. In addition, the silicate layer usually consists of Si 4+ → Al 3+ , Al 3+ → (Mg 2+ , Fe 2+ ), Mg 2+
→Because it is isomorphically substituted with ions of lower valence such as Li It is bound by cations such as Although the space between silicate layers is called an interlayer, the crystal is composed of alternating silicate layers and interlayers. Isomorphic substitution within the silicate layer can occur in both tetrahedral and octahedral sheets. In addition, since the amount of isomorphic substitution in swellable silicates is smaller than that of non-swellable mica, cations between the layers have a weak bond with the silicate layer and can easily coordinate water. It is the cause of sexual expression. Among the smectite group, which is a typical type of swellable silicate, in montmorillonite, the interlayers are saturated with lithium, and after drying, when heated in air at 200 to 300℃, the lithium between the layers moves to the empty space of the octahedral sheet. It has been reported that this method can be used to identify minerals (Nature, Vol. 170, 1130, 1952).
However, it has not been reported that lithium is immobilized in octahedral sheets of silicate layers of montmorillonite in aqueous solutions at high temperatures. Examples of the 2-octahedral swelling silicate having a negative charge on the octahedral sheet that can be contained in the lithium adsorbent of the present invention include species belonging to montmorillonite among the smectites. Montmorillonite is often contained as a main component of bentonite, and bentonite is widely used in industry as a gelling agent, a binder, etc., and is inexpensive and easily available. Bentonite may also contain beidellite as smectite. Both montmorillonite and beidellite are 2
- It is an octahedral swellable layered silicate, and in bentonite, both may exist as a solid solution, or may exist in a mixture. The cation exchange capacity of commercially available bentonite is usually 60~
120 milliequivalents/100g, and if (hk) reflection (35,06) is measured by X-ray diffraction, it is usually 1.50Å.
A lattice spacing of about 100 Å is obtained and can be easily distinguished from the (35,06) reflection around 1.52 Å of 3-octahedral smectite. The distribution of negative charges within the silicate layer is, in the case of montmorillonite, monooctahedral Al 3+
→The octahedral sheet has a negative charge due to the substitution of Mg 2+ , whereas in beidellite, the tetrahedral Si 4+ →
Tetrahedral sheets have negative charges due to Al 3+ substitution. When so-called bentonite is used as a lithium recovery agent in the present invention, a 2-octahedral silicate having a negative charge on the octahedral sheet, that is, a silicate containing a large amount of montmorillonite, is considered to be an excellent lithium adsorbent. This is thought to be because in montmorillonite, a negative charge exists in the octahedral sheet having vacancies, and by fixing lithium in the vacancies, it becomes electrically neutral and stable. On the other hand, in beidellite, there is a negative charge in the tetrahedral sheets, so it is assumed that lithium cannot enter the vacancies in the octahedral sheets. The pores in the octahedral sheets of montmorillonite are surrounded by oxygen or hydrogen groups, but the gaps between the oxygen groups are narrow, allowing only lithium, which has the smallest alkali metal ion diameter, to pass through. In this case, it is presumed that the lithium ions migrate to the pores of the octahedral sheet in a dehydrated form. On the other hand, among alkaline earth metal ions, only the ion diameter of magnesium is thought to be about the same size as lithium, but since alkaline earth metal ions have greater hydration energy than alkali metal ions, magnesium ions are heated at high temperatures. It cannot be dehydrated even in solution and exists in a water-coordinated form.
It is presumed that oxygen cannot pass through the gaps between them. Therefore, other cations such as sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, which generally coexist in geothermal hot water and hot spring water, cannot enter the pores in the octahedral sheets of montmorillonite, so they have selectivity for lithium. It is inferred. The amount of montmorillonite components in bentonite can be estimated to some extent by calculating the structural formula from chemical analysis values. In addition, by immersing a sample such as bentonite in a solution containing lithium at a high concentration of about 3 moles, the interlayers of the smectite contained therein are saturated with lithium ions, which are deposited on a slide glass and dried, and heated at 200 to 300°C in air. If the sample is heated for 1 hour and then exposed to glycerol vapor or absorbed by dropping a 10% glycerol solution and measured by X-ray diffraction, beidellite has a basal reflection of 18 Å, but montmorillonite has a basal reflection of 18 Å. It shows a basal reflection of 10 Å, and a diffraction pattern based on a mixed layer structure of two layers with a basal spacing of 18 Å and 10 Å is obtained for an intermediate composition, which allows us to know the abundance ratio of montmorillonite and beidellite, Bentonite with excellent adsorption properties can be easily selected. Montmorillonite can also be synthesized, and the composite can also be used as a lithium recovery agent. The temperature at which the structure of montmorillonite collapses is 500 to 700°C, but it can withstand use up to this temperature. Since bentonite is usually produced in the form of a rock, it can be used as a lithium recovery agent in its original form or after being crushed and sized. In addition, commercially available bentonite is often sold as a fine powder product, and the lithium can be recovered by adding it directly to a solution containing lithium, and it can also be calcined at a temperature that does not destroy the structure. It is also possible to use it as a recovery agent made into pellets or produced using an organic polymer as a binder. The recovery method using this lithium recovery agent is as follows. This lithium recovery agent can be used by adding it to a solution containing lithium that is weakly acidic to alkaline and has a high temperature of 80°C or higher. All conventionally reported lithium adsorbents have an upper limit of operating temperature of 100°C or lower; for example, manganese oxide does not adsorb lithium at all at 95°C or higher. Therefore, when using geothermal hot water, it is considered necessary to cool the hot water and then recover lithium, but this is disadvantageous because the hot water cannot be returned underground while still at a high temperature. There is no need to cool the hot water when using this recovery agent. In the recovery agent of the present invention, the amount of lithium adsorbed increases as the reaction temperature increases, and usually reaches a saturated state at a temperature of about 300°C. The rate of adsorption is generally faster at higher temperatures, and when measured with a solution containing 30 ppm lithium, equilibrium is reached in 24 hours at 150°C and 8 hours at 200°C. Furthermore, when lithium is adsorbed, the amount of negative charge in the silicate layer decreases, so it loses its swelling property and becomes more likely to precipitate, making it easier to separate it from the solution. The solid phase after the reaction can be recovered as a lithium-containing ore through filtration and drying. The lithium adsorbent of the present invention has the function of selectively fixing only lithium to the octahedral pores among the ions adsorbed between the layers, so it can adsorb lithium equivalent to the amount of negative charge of the octahedral sheet at maximum. sell. In montmorillonite, the amount of negative charge on the octahedral sheet is equal to the cation exchange capacity;
In the case of 100 meq/100g, 6.94 mg/g of lithium can be theoretically fixed in the structure. When commercially available bentonite with a high content of montmorillonite is used in hot water at 200°C, it usually contains 2.20 to 3.76 mg/g of Li.

Values of 100 g, Ca 2+ : 26 meq/100 g, and Mg 2+ : 4 meq/100 g were obtained. The measurement results are shown in the table. For comparison, changes in lithium adsorption amount depending on the aqueous solution temperature of the manganese oxide of the reference example and the recovery agent used in Examples 1 and 2 are also shown. In this recovery agent, the adsorption amount decreased once at 70°C, but continued to increase as the temperature increased after 85°C, and at 200°C, the adsorption amount was 55% of the cation exchange capacity. As is clear from the table, when manganese oxide was used, the amount of adsorption decreased as the temperature increased, and no adsorption performance was exhibited at high temperatures of 95°C or higher. On the other hand, the recovery agent of the present invention has a clear characteristic that the amount of adsorption increases as the temperature increases, and is useful for recovering lithium from high-temperature geothermal hot water, hot spring water, etc. 【table】
