(Industrial Application Field) The present invention relates to a recording medium and a recording method, and more specifically, an improved inkjet recording medium and an improved inkjet recording medium that provide recorded images having various properties such as excellent color development, light fastness, and water resistance. The present invention relates to an inkjet recording method using a medium. (Prior Art) Inkjet recording methods include various recording liquid (hereinafter referred to as ink) ejection methods (for example, electrostatic suction method, method of applying mechanical vibration or displacement to ink using a piezoelectric element, method of applying mechanical vibration or displacement to ink using a piezoelectric element, and method of heating ink). and foam it.
This method generates small droplets of ink, makes them fly, and attaches some or all of them to a recording medium such as paper to record. It is attracting attention as a recording method that produces fewer occurrences and can perform high-speed printing and multicolor printing. Water-based inks are mainly used for inkjet recording in view of safety and printability. On the other hand, conventional paper has generally been used as a recording medium. When recording on such paper using liquid ink, it is generally necessary that the ink does not bleed onto the recording medium and cause the print to become blurry, and that the ink dries as quickly as possible after recording. It is desirable not to accidentally contaminate the paper surface. In other words, in the inkjet recording method, (1) Even if the ink is quickly absorbed into the recording medium, the ink deposited later may mix with the ink deposited earlier, disturb the ink dots, or flow out. (2) The ink droplets should not spread on the recording medium and the diameter of the ink dot should not become larger than necessary; (3) The shape of the ink dot should be close to a perfect circle and the surrounding area should be smooth; ( 4) The density of the ink dots is high and the area around the dots is not blurred. (5) The whiteness of the recording medium is high and the contrast with the ink dots is large. (6) The color of the ink does not change depending on the recording medium. , (7) Dimensional fluctuations in the recording medium (e.g. wrinkles, stretching)
It is necessary to satisfy various requirements such as that the amount of data is small before and after recording. By the way, since conventional inkjet recording methods mainly use water-based inks,
There is also a problem in that recorded images lack water resistance, and when exposed to water, the ink bleeds and characters become illegible, and there has been a need to solve this problem. For example, the inkjet recording medium described in JP-A-56-99693 contains a quaternary ammonium halide to impart water resistance. However, it has been recognized that such measures to improve water resistance have the disadvantage that the light resistance of the memory agent (dye, etc.) is significantly reduced. In addition, paper containing silica has been proposed as an inkjet recording medium, and this recording medium has various advantages as an inkjet recording medium, such as excellent color development of the recording agent. When recording with ink that uses water-soluble dyes, especially direct dyes, acid dyes, or food-grade dyes as recording agents, the formed image has a disadvantage of poor light resistance and discoloration and fading, although the reason is not clear. . (Problems to be Solved by the Invention) An object of the present invention is to satisfy all the problems that the prior art could not solve in the above-mentioned technical field. In particular, the present invention aims to simultaneously improve the above-mentioned requirements for image recording using the inkjet recording method, particularly color development, light fastness, and water resistance. The object of the present invention is to improve the light resistance of images when a silica-containing recording medium is used. Another object of the present invention is to provide a new inkjet recording medium and recording method that can consistently exhibit excellent recording properties even when a wide variety of water-based inks containing water-soluble dyes are used. The above and other objects are achieved by the following invention. (Disclosure of the Invention) That is, the present invention consists of two inventions, the first of which is a recording medium characterized by containing silica and an amino alcohol having an amino group and an alcoholic hydroxyl group in the same molecule. can be,
The second invention is a recording medium containing silica and an amino alcohol having an amino group and an alcoholic hydroxyl group (hereinafter simply referred to as amino alcohol) in the same molecule, using a recording liquid containing a water-soluble dye as a recording agent. This is a recording method characterized by recording. Next, the present invention will be explained in more detail. The main features common to the present invention are that it can be used with various recording media, particularly,
By adding amino alcohol to a silica-containing recording medium, which has conventionally produced images with excellent color development, but whose images have insufficient light fastness, ink, especially water-soluble dyes, can be added. The present inventors have found that the light fastness of images formed with ink can be significantly improved while maintaining the excellent color development properties, and the inventors have achieved the purpose of the present invention based on this knowledge. be. Next, to explain the recording medium that mainly characterizes the present invention, the recording medium of the present invention is characterized by combining various conventionally known recording media with specific compounds, that is, silica and amino alcohol. With such a configuration, the object of the present invention is achieved. The recording medium of the present invention can be obtained by using various conventionally known recording media such as plain paper, processed paper, synthetic paper, plastic film, etc. as a base material, and adding silica and amino alcohol to the base material. The silica used in the recording medium of the present invention includes:
Any conventionally known natural or synthetic silica as a filler can be used, but particularly preferred is fine particle silica having a specific surface area of 100 m 2 /g or more, preferably 100 to 700 m 2 /g, as measured by the BET method. ,
By using silica having such a specific surface area, it is possible to achieve excellent color development of the water-soluble dye in the ink and optimal ink dot shape and size. The amino alcohol used in the present invention may be any conventionally known amino alcohol, but an alkylolamine represented by the following general formula () is particularly preferred. (In the formula, R1 and R2 represent atoms or atomic groups selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or a hydroxyalkyl group containing at least one hydroxyl group, and R1 and R2 may be the same or different. (In addition, R3 is an alkylene or polymethylene group.) The above-mentioned amino alcohols used in the present invention include monooxymonoamines, monoamine polyhydric alcohols, oxypolyhydric amines, etc. Specific examples include as H2NCH2CH2OH, HN

Examples include (OH)CH2NHCH2CH2NH2. Any method may be used to incorporate silica and amino alcohol into the base material as described above, but
For example, there is a method of making paper by adding these two components simultaneously or separately in the paper making process of such a base material, or a method of adding these two components to a paper eczema solution and immersing the base material in this. There are methods such as post-processing, and any method may be used. In such a method, the amounts of the two components added to the recording medium are approximately 5 to 30 parts by weight of silica and approximately 0.05 parts by weight of amino alcohol in 100 parts by weight of the recording medium.
It has been found that the objects of the present invention are best achieved by setting the amount to 10 parts by weight. Although it is effective in its own way even if it is shy of these ranges,
The balance between color development and light fastness of the formed image may be lost. On the other hand, the recording medium of the present invention of the type containing the above-mentioned two components in the coating layer on the surface of the base material is produced by adding the above-mentioned two components to a coating solution for a substrate such as paper, and using this coating solution as a base material. It is manufactured by coating it on a material and drying it. Other components of the coating liquid in this case include conventionally known inorganic pigments such as clay, talc, diatomaceous earth, calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate, titanium oxide, zinc oxide, tisane white, aluminum silicate, and lithopone. Types: Water-soluble polymers such as starch, gelatin, casein, gum arabic, sodium alginate, carboxymethyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, and sodium polyacrylate; Synthetic resin latex such as synthetic rubber latex; Organic materials such as polyvinyl butyral and polyvinyl chloride. Solvent-soluble resins; further examples include various additives such as dispersants, fluorescent dyes, PH adjusters, antifoaming agents, lubricants, preservatives, surfactants, and waterproofing agents. The solids content of the coating solution is preferably about 1 to 50% by weight, and the coating solution is usually coated in an amount of 1 to 50 g by a known method such as a roll coater method, a blade coater method, an air knife coater method, etc. / m2 (dry coating amount) on the substrate. Preferably, the coating amount is about 2 to 30 g/m 2 (dry coating amount). Silica-containing recording media are known to exhibit excellent color development with ink as conventional recording media, especially recording media used in inkjet recording methods. However, according to the present invention, by incorporating the above-mentioned amino alcohol into a silica-containing recording medium, the light resistance of the formed image was extremely low. The light resistance, which was a drawback of silica-containing recording media, can be significantly improved without losing any of the excellent color development properties inherent in silica-containing recording media. A second invention of the present invention is an invention of an inkjet recording method using the recording medium of the present invention as described above, and the ink used in the recording method is
Any conventionally known ink can be used as long as it contains a water-soluble dye. As the water-soluble dye which is an essential component of the ink used in the inkjet recording method of the present invention, water-soluble dyes such as direct dyes, acid dyes, and food colorings are preferably used. Of course, it is not limited to these. These water-soluble dyes are generally used by being dissolved in water or a solvent consisting of water and an organic solvent, and the liquid medium components preferably include water and various water-soluble organic solvents. Although mixtures may be used, it is preferred to adjust the water content in the ink to be within the range of 20 to 90% by weight. Examples of the water-soluble organic solvent include methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, n-propyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, n-butyl alcohol, sec-butyl alcohol, tert-butyl alcohol, and isobutyl alcohol, each having 1 to 1 carbon atom. Alkyl alcohols of 4; amides such as dimethylformamide and dimethylacetamide; ketones or ketone alcohols such as acetone and diacetone alcohol; ethers such as tetrahydrofuran and dioxane; polyalkylene glycols such as polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glycol; ethylene glycol,
2 alkylene groups such as propylene glycol, 1,2,6-hexanetriol, thioglycol, hexylene glycol, diethylene glycol, etc.
Alkylene glycols containing ~6 carbon atoms; glycerin; lower alkyl ethers of polyhydric alcohols such as ethylene glycol methyl ether, diethylene glycol methyl (or ethyl) ether, triethylene glycol monomethyl (or ethyl) ether, etc. . Among these many water-soluble organic solvents, polyhydric alcohols such as diethylene glycol and lower alkyl ethers of polyhydric alcohols such as triethylene glycol monomethyl (or ethyl) ether are preferred. Polyhydric alcohols are particularly preferred because they are highly effective as wetting agents to prevent nozzle clogging caused by evaporation of water in the ink and precipitation of water-soluble dyes. Solubilizing agents can also be added to the ink. Typical solubilizers are nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ketones, and their intended effect is to dramatically improve the solubility of water-soluble dyes in liquid media.
For example, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, 1,3-
Dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone is preferably used. Ink prepared from these components has its own recording properties (signal response, droplet formation stability, ejection stability, long-term continuous recording performance, ejection stability after a long recording pause). Although it has excellent storage stability and fixing properties on recording media, various additives may be further contained in order to further improve these properties. For example, viscosity regulators such as water-soluble resins such as polyvinyl alcohol and cellulose; various cationic, anionic or nonionic surfactants; surface tension regulators such as diethanolamine and triethanolamine; PH regulators using buffers, etc. be able to. Further, in order to prepare the ink used in the inkjet recording method of the type in which the ink is charged, a resistivity adjusting agent such as inorganic salts such as lithium chloride, ammonium chloride, and sodium chloride is added. When applied to an inkjet recording method in which ink is ejected by the action of thermal energy, thermal physical property values (e.g., specific heat,
(thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity, etc.) may be adjusted. In the method of the present invention, the inkjet recording method for performing recording by applying the above-mentioned ink to the above-mentioned recording medium is a method in which the ink can be effectively removed from a nozzle and the ink can be applied to the recording medium, which is a projectile. Any method may be used, and typical examples of these methods include, for example, IEEE Trans actions on

It was published in the May 6th issue. The methods described above are suitable for the method of the present invention, and to explain some of them, there is an electrostatic attraction method,
In this method, a strong electric field is applied between the nozzle and an accelerating electrode placed several mm in front of the nozzle, and the ink is turned into particles and drawn out one after another from the nozzle. Information is transmitted while the drawn ink flies between the deflection electrodes. There are two methods: a method in which a signal is applied to a deflection electrode for recording, and a method in which ink droplets are ejected in response to an information signal without deflecting the ink droplets, both of which are effective for the method of the present invention. The second method is to forcibly eject minute ink particles by applying high pressure to the ink with a small pump and mechanically vibrating the nozzle with a crystal oscillator. Simultaneously with injection, it is charged according to an information signal. When the charged ink particles pass between the deflection electrode plates, they are deflected according to the amount of charge. Another method using this method is called the microdot inkjet method. In this method, ink pressure and excitation conditions are kept within a certain range of appropriate values, and two types of ink droplets, large and small, are ejected from the nozzle tip. is generated, and only these medium- and small-diameter droplets are used for recording. The feature of this method is that it is possible to obtain a group of minute droplets even with a nozzle diameter as large as conventional ones. A third method is a piezo element method, in which a piezo element is used as a pressure means for applying pressure to the ink, rather than a mechanical means such as a pump as in other methods. This method applies an electric signal to a piezo element to cause mechanical displacement, thereby applying pressure to the ink and ejecting it from a nozzle. In addition, in the method described in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 54-51837, ink subjected to the action of thermal energy undergoes a rapid volume change, and the acting force due to this state change causes the ink to be ejected from the nozzle. An inkjet method can also be used effectively. According to the present invention as described above, it is possible to provide an image that simultaneously has significantly superior color development and light fastness compared to the conventional method using a recording medium. By using an ink made of a coloring matter, it is possible to provide an image having excellent quality not seen in conventional examples, particularly having excellent color development and light fastness at the same time. Furthermore, according to the present invention, the ink is quickly absorbed into the recording medium, and even if ink of a different color is repeatedly deposited on the same spot within a short period of time, there is no ink flow or oozing phenomenon, and high resolution can be achieved. A clear image can be obtained. Therefore, the present recording medium and recording method are suitable not only for general recording but also particularly for inkjet recording. Hereinafter, the present invention will be explained in more detail according to Examples and Comparative Examples. However, parts or percentages in the text are based on weight unless otherwise specified. Example 1 As a base material, the size degree based on JISP8122 is
Using general high-quality paper (basis weight 64 g/m 2 ) for 35 seconds, apply a coating solution with the following composition onto this base material in a dry coating amount of 10 g/m 2 .
The recording medium of the present invention was obtained by coating with a blade coater at a ratio of m 2 and drying by a conventional method. For comparison, a coating liquid containing no amino alcohol was prepared and coated in the same manner as a recording medium of a comparative example. Synthetic silica (Fuji Davison Chemical, Cyroid)
404, specific surface area 340m 2 /g) 100 parts polyvinyl alcohol (manufactured by Kuraray, PVA117)
50 parts amino alcohol x parts water 400 parts The above recording medium was subjected to an inkjet recording method using the following ink, and the solid printed portion of the resulting image was evaluated for light resistance.
Light resistance was measured using a xenon fade meter irradiated for 30 hours (40°C, 65% RH, 55 mW/cm 2 ) and a high-speed spectrophotometer model CA-35 (manufactured by Murakami Color Research Institute). The color difference (ΔEab*) was determined and used as a measure of light resistance. The smaller the value, the better the light resistance. The results are shown in Table 1 below.
