1 is provided with a waveguide 104 for introducing infrared rays. The outside of this waveguide 104 is covered with a guide piece 105. The method of fixing this guide piece +05 and the metal housing 102 is as follows:
This is done by a female thread 107 formed on the inner periphery of the metal housing 102 and a male thread 108 formed on the outer periphery of the metal housing 102. Furthermore, in order to arrange the waveguide 104 and the guide piece 105 coaxially, four small rib-like protrusions 106 (not shown in FIG. 25) are formed on the inner periphery of the tip of the guide piece 105. When fixed, these small protrusions 106 and the waveguide 1
The tip of 04 contacts and becomes coaxial.

When inserted into the waveguide 10 , the temperature of the external ear canal 106 is transmitted to the waveguide 104 via the guide piece 105 . As a result, the amount of infrared radiation emitted from the inner wall of the waveguide 104 changes, and the output of the thermopile 101 fluctuates, making it impossible to accurately measure body temperature.

Therefore, since there is no need to warm up the guide pipe or guide piece before measurement, it is possible to measure body temperature more accurately from the beginning. Furthermore, since a heater is not required, it is possible to downsize the device.

Furthermore, even if the guide bead is inserted deep into the external ear canal, damage to the external ear canal and eardrum can be prevented.

Even if an attempt is made to insert the external ear canal insertion part, the external ear canal insertion part will not be inserted any further into the external ear canal. Therefore, damage to the external ear canal and eardrum can be reliably prevented.

Next, after the second display section 8 indicating the completion of measurement preparation lights up, the insertion section 12b of the guide piece 12 is inserted into the external ear canal 26, as shown in FIG. Then, infrared rays emitted from the eardrum 27 reach the thermopile 14 via the waveguide 13b. In this thermopile 14,
An electromotive force is generated depending on the amount of incident infrared rays, and a detection circuit on the substrate 15 performs predetermined processing based on this output signal. Thereafter, the body temperature is displayed on the display section 4 based on the signal from the detection circuit.

Therefore, the guide piece 12 fixed in the hole 24 of the upper case 10 and the lower case 11 are accurately positioned. On the other hand, the four grooves 15a formed on the outer periphery of the substrate 15 are fitted with the square-shaped ribs 18 provided on the inner periphery of the lower case 11, so that the substrate 5 and the lower case 11 is accurately positioned. Therefore, the guide pipe 13 fixed to the base plate 15 with the screw 16 and the lower case 11 are accurately positioned. For these reasons, the guide piece 12 and guide pipe 13 (waveguide 13

The waveguide 13b and the guide piece 12 do not come into contact with each other (they can be positioned).
It is possible to suppress conduction of heat from the guide piece 12 to b. Therefore, the sensor section 2 can be connected to the external ear canal 2.
Even when inserted into the waveguide 13b, the amount of infrared radiation emitted from the inner wall of the waveguide 13b does not change. Therefore, the amount of infrared rays incident on the thermopile 14 as an error factor is reduced, making it possible to accurately measure body temperature.

The changes in the amount of infrared rays incident on 4 were investigated, and the results are shown in FIG. Note that A in the figure indicates the amount of radiated infrared rays incident on the thermopile 4 from the inner wall of the guide piece 12, and B in the figure indicates the amount of radiated infrared rays incident on the thermopile 14 from the inner wall of the waveguide 13b.

This is because the infrared radiation emitted from the inner wall of the guide piece 12 is blocked by the waveguide 13b and does not enter the thermomobile 14. However, in the above case, it is recognized that the value of B is large. This is the waveguide 13b
Since the tip is too close to the wall surface of the external ear canal 26, the temperature of the waveguide 13b increases, and the amount of infrared radiation radiated from the inner wall of the waveguide 13b increases accordingly. This is because the amount of infrared rays radiated from the inner wall of the waveguide 13b is incident on the thermomobile 14. In this way, as the value of L #22 approaches 0, the amount of infrared radiation incident from the inner wall of the guide piece 12 becomes smaller, but the amount of infrared radiation incident from the inner wall of the waveguide 13b increases.

However, when the infrared radiation emitted from the inner wall of the guide piece 12 enters the thermomobile 14, there is nothing to block it. Therefore, the value of A becomes large and the thermomobile 1
The output of 4 will change. Like this pl/p2
As the value approaches 1, the amount of infrared radiation incident from the inner wall of the waveguide 13b becomes smaller, but the amount of infrared radiation incident from the inner wall of the guide piece 12 increases.

This is because if the distance ρ1° is less than 10 degrees, the thermopile 14 will reach close to the tip of the guide piece 12, so the thermopile 14 will come too close to the external ear canal 26. Therefore, the temperature of the thermopile 14 increases due to body temperature, and the output of the thermopile 14 changes accordingly. on the other hand,

It is determined whether or not the sensor unit is set at the home position 9 (Sl). If the sensor section 2 is not set at position 9, a call is made to ``Please return the sensor section to the main body'' (S2). On the other hand, if the sensor unit 2 is set at position 9, the first display unit 7 will light up to indicate that measurement preparation is complete (S
3). Next, it is determined whether the operator has taken out the sensor section 2 from the main body 1 (S4), and if the answer is affirmative, a setting alarm sound is sounded from the speaker 60 (S5). After the operator inserts the sensor section 2 in which the alarm sound is being sounded into the external ear canal 26 of the subject, the operator does not move the sensor section 2 in order to change the insertion angle of the sensor section 2. At this time, the person to be measured listens to the setting alarm sound and instructs the operator when this sound reaches its maximum level. The operator sets the sensor section 2 at this location. In this way, the reason why the sensor unit 2 is placed at the location where the setting alarm sound is maximum is because in such a situation, the tip of the sensor unit 2 is almost directly facing the eardrum. This is because it is in a state where it is accurately installed in the external ear canal 26. Next, as shown in step 7, when the measurement start button 5 is pressed, the first display section 7 turns off and the setting alarm sound stops (step S8).
), and then a body temperature measurement sequence is started (S9). In this body temperature measurement sequence, the output voltage from the thermopile 14 is corrected in consideration of the output voltage of the diode 48, and then this corrected voltage is compared with a comparison voltage of 2°5.
Furthermore, calculation is performed within the microcomputer 57 based on this comparison value. If the measurement start button 5 is not turned on 10 seconds after the setting alarm starts sounding, return to steps S1 and 2 (S6) and receive the message ``Please return the sensor unit to the main body.'' is carried out, and measurement becomes impossible.

Depends on the reason. When the body temperature measurement is completed, the second display section 8 indicates that the measurement is complete.
lights up, and the body temperature is displayed on the LCD display section 4 (
SIO), and then from speaker 60, ``Measurement has ended.'' 0° C." is made (Sll). Thereafter, the operator returns the sensor unit 2 to the sensor unit home position 9, and the measurement sequence ends.
