Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal module which does not require the exchange of the entire part thereof and is economical by allowing the simple exchange of a light source to be exclusively used regardless of the shape of the small-sized liquid crystal module even with such module. CONSTITUTION:A removable metallic or other holding material 20 mounted to one side 7a of a fixing frame removed in order to exchange the light source 8 to be exclusively used is fitted to both of the fixing frame and a substrate 3, by which the strength of the removed side is assured and the exchange of the light source to be exclusively used alone is allowed.

2. Description of the Related Art Liquid crystals are non-light-emitting devices and cannot display images without using external light. Therefore, when using it in a dark place, it is necessary to mount a dedicated light source on the liquid crystal module. As dedicated light sources, there are electroluminescence (hereinafter referred to as EL) and cold cathode tubes, but cold cathode tubes consume power and require a plate to diffuse the light, making the liquid crystal module thicker. Since there are problems such as not being able to apply it to small liquid crystal modules, EL is used as a dedicated light source for small liquid crystal modules. However, since ELs have a short lifespan, they must be replaced after a certain period of time, so one side of the L-shaped frame was removed to allow replacement of the ELs. Related devices of this type can be found in the Journal of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, Vol. 105, No. 7 (July 1985), page 27, and Nikkei Electronics No. 433 (No. 1987, No. 7).

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] In the above conventional technology, since the strength of the removed side is weakened due to the structure, unless the length is short enough to maintain strength on the other three sides, it is necessary to replace the dedicated light source separately. The problem was that it was impossible.

[Means for Solving the Problems] In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a structure in which a metal or other material that can be attached and detached is attached to the side of the removed frame and to the substrate on which a circuit for driving and controlling the liquid crystal is mounted. One or more members (hereinafter referred to as retaining materials) are fitted together, and this retaining material ensures the strength of the removed side, and when replacing a single dedicated light source, this retaining material must be removed. made possible.

[Operation] Since the holding material is attached so as to fit into both the frame and the board, it can generate a force that counters forces in both the pushing direction and the pulling direction, so it can maintain its strength. . Further, since the rubber is subjected to force in the compression direction by the holding material, the force can be constantly applied to the holding material, so that play between the holding material and the substrate or frame can be absorbed.

[Embodiment] In FIG. 1, liquid crystal module 1 is LCD 2.
In general, a board 3 on which a circuit for driving and controlling an LCD is mounted is electrically connected to the left or right side with a flexible cable 4 and the upper or lower side with conductive rubber 5, and the remaining lower side or The insulating rubber 6 is placed on the upper side. At this time, the opposite side (right side or left side) where the flexible cable is not connected is left free and not connected to anything. Furthermore, use a frame 7 made of metal or the like with four sides bent into an L shape.
It fixes the CD and the board while compressing conductive rubber 5 and insulating rubber 6, and is composed of a dedicated light source 8 for improving visibility and a connector 9 for connecting control signals from an external circuit between the LCD and the board. ing. The reason why the dedicated light source 8 is arranged here is that the LCD is a non-light-emitting element and cannot be displayed without using external light, so if the surroundings are bright, the LCD
This is because display is possible by placing a reflective plate on the back side of the screen, but display is impossible when it is dark. To solve this problem, a dedicated light source 8 is placed between the LCD and the substrate 3, and light is emitted from the back of the LCD, thereby enabling display even when the surroundings are dark. EL is generally used as a light source exclusively for small LCDs, but it has a short lifespan and requires periodic replacement. For this purpose, flexible cables,
On one side where there is no conductive rubber or insulating rubber, one side 7a of the frame 7 bent into an L shape is removed so that the dedicated light source can be inserted and removed. However, if this removed side becomes too long, it must be removed. The strength of the side becomes weaker, and when you press the LCD, L
The CD may be distorted, causing color unevenness, and the board 3 may be warped, causing parts mounted on the board to come off, resulting in poor contact.

FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of the present invention. One side 7a of the frame 7 for fixing the LCD and the board is removed to the extent that the dedicated light source can be inserted and removed. At this time, the L-shaped bent portion is attached to the fixed frame. The holding material 20 is placed in this removed portion, which may be left in order to maintain some degree of strength, so as to fit into both the fixed frame and the board. For example, fitting can be accomplished by providing a part of the fixing frame 7 with a protrusion 7b perpendicular to the LCD surface, and attaching a part of the holding material to the protrusion 20a bent into an L shape toward the LCD surface. The hole 20b through which the vertical protrusion 7b passes and the LCD
A protrusion 20c bent into an L-shape is provided on the back side of 2 so as to sandwich the LCD, and a protrusion 20d for sandwiching the board 3 is further provided and bent inward to fix the holding material 20 when installing or removing it. This is possible by making it straight. This causes the frame 7 or LCD 2 to face downward (direction A).
When a force is applied, the force is applied to the part of the LCD and the part 20c of the holding material that are in contact with each other, and is further transmitted to the substrate through the holding material, resulting in the same structure as the other three sides, so the LCD
is not distorted or the frame is bent, and conversely, when a downward force (in direction B) is applied to the board, force is applied to the part 20d of the holding material that is in contact with the board, and furthermore, the part 20d of the holding material contacts each other through the holding material. The force is transmitted to a part of the holding frame 20a and a part 20a of the holding material, and the structure is the same as that of the other three sides, so the board does not bend. Here, by fitting the vertical protrusion 7b of the fixed frame and the hole 20b of the holding material, the horizontal direction (C direction)
prevent escape.

An example of fitting is shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.
Now, instead of the L-shaped protrusion 20c on the back side of the LCD in FIG. A hole 20e (or just the projection 20f may be provided) is provided through which the horizontal projection 7c of the frame passes. This allows frame 7 or LCD
When a downward force is applied to 2, the force is applied to part 7d of the fixed frame and part 20g of the holding material that are in contact with each other, and is further transmitted to the board through the holding material, resulting in the same structure as the other three sides. Therefore, the LCD will not be distorted or the frame will be bent.

In FIG. 4, a part of the fixed frame 7 in FIG.
Instead of providing a portion 7b that protrudes perpendicularly to the surface, and providing a hole 20b through which the vertical protrusion 7b of the fixing frame passes through the protrusion 20a, which is a part of the holding material bent into an L shape toward the front surface of the LCD, the fixing frame A part of one side 7a of 7 is provided with a protrusion 7d bent into a U-shape,
A hole 20g through which the U-shaped protrusion 7d of the fixed frame passes is provided in a part of the holding member. As a result, when a downward force is applied to the board, the force is applied to the part 20d of the holding material that is in contact with the board, and the part 7c of the frame and the part of the holding material that are in contact with each other through the holding material are further applied. Since the force is transmitted to the other three sides and the structure is the same as that of the other three sides, the board will not bend.

In FIG. 5, a rubber 21 is placed between the frame 7 or the LCD 2 and the substrate 3 so as to be in contact with the holding material 20, and by constantly compressing the rubber, force is applied to both the frame or the LCD and the substrate. Since it can be continued, it is possible to eliminate looseness of the holding material.
