方低圧側へ複数のシール部材が配列されかつ各シ
ール部材間に設けられた圧力室にシール用の潤滑
剤が加圧供給されるシール装置において、 複数のシール部材の第1段目の前方にラビリン
スシール構造部を設け、このラビリンスシール構
造部に泥水圧よりも高圧の清水を注入して、泥水
の機体ケーシングへの侵入を防止してなるシール
装置。 (2) ラビリンスシール構造部が、環状に形成さ
れた複数のラビリンスシール部材を軸方向に並列
に配置して構成される請求項(1)記載のシール装
置。 (3) ラビリンスシール構造部に設けられた清水
注入口と第1段目のシール部材との間にラビリン
スシール部材の1つを介装して、清水の第1段シ
ール部材への侵入を阻止し、かつ、第1段シール
部材にて潤滑剤による背圧が所定圧より低下した
ときに、ラビリンスシール部材が受圧して内径リ
ツプ部が回転カツターの外周面に接触して清水の
逆流を阻止する請求項(1)記載のシール装置。
