Abstract

PURPOSE:To accommodate an amount of blowing of cold air or hot air and an air conditioning capability by measuring either a distance between a local air conditioner and an air blown item or a surrounding air temperature, to expand a comfortable spacing and keep a temperature of discharging air constant. CONSTITUTION:A local air conditioner 1 is provided with a sensor 3 comprised of a horn and an ultrasonic receiving element for sensing a distance between a discharging port duct 2 for cooling an air blown item as well as heating it. Operation of a blower and a compressor are controlled through an invertor in response to the detected distance and an amount of blowing cold air or heated air and an air conditioning capability. Therefore, it is possible to eliminate a useless operation, give a uniform air blowing state of the air blown item and to improve a comfortable state.
