With the demand for smaller and more complex electronic components, the use of multilayer chip components is progressing, and the development of multilayer inductors is also progressing following multilayer capacitors. LC filters, which have an inductor attached to a dielectric substrate with a capacitor formed thereon, are also used. Furthermore, composite parts in which an inductor and a capacitor are integrally formed are also being considered.

As described above, the laminated inductor is attached to a dielectric substrate on which a plurality of capacitors are formed as individual components, but depending on the application, there may be a limit to miniaturization. This is possible because the dimensions of the multilayer inductor are larger than the dimensions of the multilayer capacitor.

The present invention involves arranging laminated inductors made up of conductor layers laminated and connected in a figure-8 shape inside a magnetic substrate in the horizontal direction, and arranging them on the surface of the magnetic substrate containing the inductors. The above objective is achieved by forming the grooves. In other words, a plurality of inductance elements are arranged in the lateral direction of the figure 8 shape, in which a figure 8 conductor pattern is connected by going around two different points and intersecting between the two points, and magnetic layers are alternately laminated with the inductance elements. The composite inductor board is characterized in that the magnetic layer on the surface of the intersection of the conductor patterns is provided with a groove extending laterally in the shape of a figure eight.

FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of an embodiment of the invention. The magnetic substrate 10 is made by laminating ferrite, and a conductive layer 11 is formed between the layers to constitute an inductor. The conductor layer 11 is laminated alternately with the magnetic layer while being connected, and has a structure in which the conductor layer 11 alternately goes around two points and intersects at a position midway between the two points. Therefore, the direction of winding is opposite between the part that goes around one point and the part that goes around another point, and the direction of the current is also opposite. The magnetic field generated thereby also has the opposite direction.

If the conductor layers and magnetic layers are alternately laminated as described above, and a relatively thick magnetic layer is formed on the top and bottom surfaces, the magnetic layer will overlap the area surrounded by the conductor layer and the top and bottom surfaces. A magnetic circuit in which the magnetic field is aligned in one direction is thus formed. Therefore, since it becomes a closed magnetic circuit type inductor, the inductance can be increased even if the number of laminated turns is small.

A plurality of inductors thus formed are arranged at intervals in the lateral direction of the figure eight. Then, a figure-eight-shaped groove 12 is formed in the horizontal direction on the surface of the magnetic substrate 10.

Without the grooves 12, a closed magnetic path would be formed within each figure-eight inductor, and coupling with adjacent inductors would be reduced. However, since the magnetic circuit is interrupted by the groove 12, the coupling between adjacent inductors increases. In particular, when the winding direction and the current direction are reversed, the direction of the magnetic field is reversed, and a magnetic loop is formed between adjacent inductors, maximizing the coupling. Therefore, the coupling between adjacent inductors can be set arbitrarily by the pattern of the conductor layer and the wiring.

In manufacturing the composite inductor substrate according to the present invention, the magnetic substrate 10 can be formed by laminating green sheets or by printing. Further, the conductive layer 11 can be similarly formed by connecting with through holes or by printing alternately with magnetic material. The ends of the conductor layer may be drawn out to the side surface of the substrate, or may be drawn out to the upper and lower surfaces. Furthermore, if a wiring pattern is formed on the surface of the board, an LC filter or delay line can be obtained simply by attaching a chip capacitor by soldering or the like.
