Currently, bank cash cards, credit cards, and other ID cards for identifying registered customers are in widespread use in many other fields, but most of these cards use magnetic stripes as recording media. Therefore, when the amount of information for a customer increases, various data cannot be recorded on one card.

That is , as shown in an enlarged cross-section of the stripe portion in FIG. In order to adhesively fix the magnetic stripe M and also adhesively fix the tape consisting of the magnetic material layer M 1 and the base layer M 2 to the other side, the alignment of both tapes must be performed twice, and the machine for manufacturing the stripe. Since two sets of equipment are required, the yield is reduced and costs are increased.
In particular, the coating process consists of 3 layers including the reflective layer P2 .
There are disadvantages in that it requires multiple times and production efficiency is also poor.

The optical recording layer 3 is formed on one side of the base 2 by vapor-depositing Te-Se-based chalcogenite, tellurium oxide, etc., as will be described later.
When the photochromic material is organic phthalocyamine or spiropyran, it may be applied to the base 2 by a coating technique. For the base 2 and the magnetic recording layer 4, ordinary magnetic tape can be used as is.

FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram for explaining the method for manufacturing recording stripes. A film-like magnetic tape with a magnetic film formed on the base 2 is fed from a drum 10 to a vapor deposition conveyor 11, and an inorganic film is coated on the back surface of the base 2. A based photochromic material is deposited. Reference numeral 12 denotes a film winding drum in which an optical recording layer 3 and a magnetic recording layer 4 are formed on both sides of the base 2. The film wound around the drum 12 is calendered in a separate process and cut into recording stripes by a slitter at a predetermined width.

FIG. 6 shows a manufacturing method in which the optical recording layer 3 is formed from an organic photochromic material. Since organic photochromic materials such as spiropyran and phthalocyanine have poor light reflectivity, first, aluminum, silver, etc., which will become the reflective layer 6, is vapor-deposited on the back surface of the base 2 using the apparatus shown in FIG. The surface of the reflective layer 6 is coated with an organic photosensitive material dissolved in a solvent together with a binder. That is, a reflective layer 6 is provided on the base 2 of the magnetic tape.
While moving the film on which has been vapor-deposited at a predetermined speed by rollers 13a and 13b, the mixture of photosensitive material and binder contained in the vat (VAT) 14 is transferred to the base using a gravure cord or a doctor cord. Apply 2. After the film is calendered and dried, it is cut into stripes to form recording stripes.

FIG. 7 shows an optical/magnetic card in which a recording stripe obtained by such a manufacturing method is adhered to a substrate 1, where 6 is a reflective layer and other parts are given the same symbols as in FIG. 4.

In addition, organic photosensitive materials such as spiropyran develop color when irradiated with ultraviolet rays, and it is easy to write dot patterns that serve as data.
A ROM in which predetermined data is written by coating a mask pattern on which predetermined data is written on a film coated with a photosensitive material as shown in Fig. 6 before cutting it into stripes and irradiating it with ultraviolet light.
(Read Only Memory). In this case, the magnetic recording layer 4 can be used for additional writing.

[Effects of the invention] As explained above, the optical/magnetic card of this invention has a magnetic recording layer and an optical recording layer formed on the first and second sides of the base, respectively, in stripes on one side of the substrate. Since the card is configured to be fused and fixed with a protective film, it has the advantage that manufacturing costs can be lowered compared to conventional optical/magnetic cards.

Furthermore, since the protective film is formed on the side of the substrate where the stripes are arranged, it is possible to protect the recording stripes and prevent the stripes from peeling off from the substrate, and the substrate is made of a transparent material. Therefore, optical recording can be performed from both sides of the substrate at the same time as magnetic recording, which has the effect of simplifying the structure of the recording/reading device.
