2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, handy scanners have been increasingly used in various businesses such as POS, logistics, and production management. Among these, there are cases in which interpretation data must be sent to a host computer in real time via a communication cable for processing in a relatively narrow range, such as in retail operations at a store, and cases in which reading data is particularly difficult to read in a relatively narrow range, such as inventory management in a warehouse. There are cases where real-time processing of data is not required, and primary interpretation data is stored and later processed all at once.

The operation of the main body will be explained below with reference to FIG. 1(a). The irradiated light from the light emitting section 4 illuminates the barcode 5. The reflected light from the barcode 5 forms an image on the image sensor of the light receiving section 6. The signal from the light receiving section 6 is amplified 54 times by an amplifier circuit 7 and then sent to a binarization circuit 8 where it is binarized. This binary signal is read by the CPU 9. FIG. 1(a) shows a handy scanner in which a communication type handheld part 2 is combined with this main body part 1, and the reading data read by the CPU 9 is sent to the communication circuit 10 of the communication type handheld part.
and is transmitted in real time to a host computer (not shown) via communication cable 11. Also, Figure 1
In the handy scanner shown in FIG. 3B, the storage type handheld section 3 is integrated, and the reading data sent from the CPU 9 is stored in the memory 12. In this case, since there is no cable for supplying power, the battery 13 is built into the storage type handheld part. Ultimately, the read data stored in this memory 12 is sent off-line to a host computer for processing.
