Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [産業上の利用分野] この発明は延伸吹込成形を用いて合成樹脂製の
三層缶胴を製造する方法に関するものである。
[従来の技術] ポリエチレンテレフタレート、塩化ビニールな
どの熱可塑性樹脂によるびんは、種々の容器に使
用されている。特にポリエチレンテレフタレート
を延伸吹込成形して得られたびんは、二軸配向に
よつて比較的ガスバリヤ性がよく、また剛性をも
有することなどから、炭酸飲料を始め果汁、酒、
ビールなどの容器として広く使用されつつある。
しかしながら、延伸吹込成形による容器は、そ
の成形の過程において、押出または射出成形され
たパリソンの口部、即ち一般にネツク部またはリ
ツプ部と称されているところを挾持して成形を行
つており、その挾持部分までをも肉薄に延伸する
ことができない。このためパリソンの口部は押出
または射出成形されたままで、配向されておら
ず、強度も劣り、厚肉で固いことなどのことか
ら、金属蓋の嵌着は可能であつても、缶の場合の
ように巻き締めを行うことは不可能とされてい
る。したがつて、パリソンの口部をいかに大径に
形成しても、延伸吹込成形した容器を、そのまま
缶胴として使用することはできない。
そこで本発明者は、延伸吹込成形された薄肉の
容器を、合成樹脂製缶胴として用いべく種々研究
を重ねた結果、容器を切断することによつて、胴
部と底部とが一体の缶胴とすることができる方法
を先に見出したのである。
この方法はポリエチレンテレフタレートなどの
熱可塑性樹脂による有底のプリフオームを成形す
る工程と、そのプリフオームから胴部の上端が外
方へ張り出したびん状の中空体を延伸吹込成形す
る工程と、その中空体を上記張出部にて切断し、
張出部の下辺による少なくとも横向きの開口縁を
有する胴部と、底部とが一体形成された缶胴とな
す工程とからなるもので、充分に延伸され開口縁
は金属蓋の周縁と共に巻き締めて折損することは
なかつた。
[発明が解決しようとする問題点] しかしながら、上記方法にあつては、プリフオ
ーム全体が単一樹脂からなるため、切除した張出
部を再び材料樹脂として使用できることから、材
料ロスがきわめて少ないが、缶胴の耐熱性の向上
や更にガスバリヤ性を付与するために、それらの
性能を有する樹脂またはガラス繊維などの物性が
異なつた材料を、中間層として加えた全体が三層
のプリフオームを用いた場合には、切除された中
空体の張出部は、材料樹脂として再び使用するこ
とができず、成形上のロスとして処理される。
したがつて単層の缶胴に比べて、三層の缶胴は
コスト高となり、耐熱性やガスバリヤ性が単層の
ときよりも優れていても、実際には使用し難いも
のとなる。また切断個所から層間に空気が入つて
剥離が生ずるなどの新たな問題をも有する。
[問題点を解決するための手段] そこで本発明者は三層缶胴の成形方法について
更に検討した結果、中空体の缶胴として用いられ
る部分のみを三層に成形し、切除される張出部を
単層に形成することによつて上記問題点を解し得
ることを見出したのである。
この新たな三層缶胴の成形方法は、ポリエチレ
ンテレフタレートなどの熱可塑性樹脂による内外
層と、その内外層よりもガスバリヤ性、耐熱性な
どに優れ、かつ延伸可能な材料による中間層とか
らなり、その中間層を缶胴の開口部に当たる部分
の近くまで形成して、中間層の端部から開口端ま
でが単層の三層プリフオームを成形し、そのプリ
フオームを延伸吹込成形により単層部分が外方へ
張出したびん状の中空体に成形し、その中空体を
張出部の下辺にて切断して、胴部及び底部が三層
で開口部に上記下辺による単層の巻込縁を有する
缶胴に成形することにある。
上記中間層としては、内外層よりも結晶化速度
の早いポリエチレンテレフタレート、ポリアミド
系樹脂、ポリエチレンテレフタレートとポリアミ
ド系樹脂のブレンド、ポリアミド系樹脂または内
外層を形成する樹脂とガラス繊維との混練材料な
どが上げられる。
[作用] 上記方法にあつては、プリフオーム成形時に、
中間層の位置をプリフオームを延伸吹込成形して
形成した中空体の張出部の下辺までとし、張出部
より上部は内外層を形成する樹脂のみをもつて形
成したことから、下辺にて切断された張出部は、
そのままで再び材料樹脂として使用することがで
きる。また中間層として使用された材料も、その
ほとんどが缶胴の中間層として無駄なく用いられ
ることから、材料のロスはきわめて僅かとなり、
中空体の一部を切除して成形する三層の缶胴であ
りながら、コスト高となるようなことがない。
更にこの発明を図示の実施例により詳細に説明
する。
[実施例] 第1図 一般に知られている三層成形法を用いて、有底
で三層のプリフオーム1を形成する。この場合、
中間層2は製品となる缶胴の開口部に当たる部分
の近くまで、図面で示すならば、ネツク部3の下
部でとし、中間層2の端部から開口端まで、即ち
ネツク部3とその下側は、外層1aと内層1bを
形成する同一の樹脂により単層に形成する。この
三層のプリフオーム1をネツク型4によりネツク
部3を挾持して射出金型Aから離型し、温調部へ
移送する。図は省略したがこの温調部にて成形時
に生じた温度むらを均一にすると共に、プリフオ
ーム温度を延伸吹込成形に適した温度に調整す
る。そして温調後にネツク部3を挾持したまま延
伸吹込部へプリフオーム1を移送する。
第2図 上記プリフオーム1を予め準備された中空体成
形用の吹込金型Bに、ネツク型4で挾持したネツ
ク部3を除いて挿入する。この吹込金型Bのキヤ
ビテイ上部には張出部成形用の凹所があり、この
凹所より下側に中間層2の上端が位置する。
次に伸長ロツド5をネツク型4の上方からプリ
フオームに1内に挿入して軸方向に延伸すると共
に、空気を吹込んで半径方向に膨脹させて、胴部
6aと底部6b及び胴部6aの上部に単層の張出
部7を一体に有する中空体6に成形する。この成
形により上記プリフオーム1の外層1aと内層1
b及び中間層2は、そのままの状態で中空体6の
内外層及び中間層となり、中空体6は底部6bか
ら張出部7の下辺7aまで三層構造となる。
この場合、胴部6aと張出部7の境を図示のよ
うに内方へ若干弯曲して凹溝に形成して置くと、
後記する金属蓋の巻き締縁と胴部6aとをほぼ同
一面に形成することができる。
上記のようにして成形された中空体6の胴部6
aの肉厚は、ほとんど均一であり、また二軸配向
によつて薄肉ながら、強度を有し、折曲応力が増
す。特に張出部7は胴部6aよりも延伸されてい
るので、折曲げても破断するようなことがない。
第3図及び第4図 上記中空体6を吹込金型Bから離型したのち、
上記張出部7にて中空体6の切断を行う。この切
断は、中空体6をネツク型4から外し、予め準備
された切断機を使用して行う。また切断個所は、
張出部7の単層に形成された下辺7aとし、切断
によつて、胴部の開口端に横向きの巻込縁8を有
する三層の缶胴9となす。
このようにして成形された缶胴9は、巻込縁8
の先端から底部6bまで二軸配向されたものとな
り、かつまた中間層2によつてガスバリヤ性また
は耐熱性が一段と向上したものとなる。
上記実施例では、底部6bを耐圧構造に成形し
ているが、内圧を考慮する必要のない内容物の缶
に使用する場合は、底部6bの構造を通常の合成
樹脂製びんなどの底部と同様に成形される。
第5図は上記缶胴9の巻込縁8を、開封部材を
有する通常の金属蓋10と共に巻き締めて製造し
た缶11を示すもので、金属蓋10による缶胴9
の密封は、内容物を充填したのちに、巻込縁上に
載置した上記金属蓋10の周縁10aと、巻込縁
8とを通常のごとく第6図に示すように巻き締め
て行われる。
[発明の効果] この発明は上述のように、缶胴となる部分のみ
を三層とし、巻込縁を形成するために切除される
中空体の張出部より上部は単層となるように、予
めプリフオームを三層に成形した上で、三層缶胴
を成形したことから、切除した張出部を単層の場
合と同様に材料樹脂として再使用することがで
き、また中間層は切除されずにそのほとんどが有
効に用いられるため、高価な材料をも中間層とし
て使用でき、それにより耐熱性やガスバリヤ性が
更に一段と向上した三層缶胴を経済的に製造する
ことができる。また切断個所は単層であるから、
層間に空気が入つて剥離現象が生ずることがない
などの特長を有する。

は三層缶胴の製造工程を一部拡大して順に示す縦
断面図、第5図は合成樹脂三層缶の正面図、第6
図は缶の巻き締部分の縦断面図である。 1…プリフオーム、1a…外層、1b…内層、
2…中間層、6…中空体、6a…胴部、7…張出
部、7a…下辺、8…巻込縁、9…缶胴。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 1 ポリエチレンテレフタレートなどの熱可塑性
    樹脂による内外層と、その内外層よりもガスバリ
    ヤ性、耐熱性などに優れ、かつ延伸可能な材料に
    よる中間層とからなり、その中間層を缶胴の開口
    部に当たる部分の近くまで形成して、中間層の端
    部から開口端までが単層の三層プリフオームを成
    形し、そのプリフオームを延伸吹込成形により単
    層部分が外方へ張出したびん状の中空体に成形
    し、その中空体を張出部の下辺にて切断して、胴
    部及び底部が三層で開口部に上記下辺による単層
    の巻込縁を有する缶胴に成形してなることを特徴
    とする合成樹脂三層缶胴の製造方法。
