本考案は内燃機関のバルブ部に使用するバルブ
ステムシールに関し、更に具体的にはバルブガイ
ドとの嵌着部となるフランジ部を有する金属性筒

テム7と接触するシールリツプ1を有する弾性体

を有するものであつた。このバルブステムシール
に用いられている金属製筒体Aの断面形状は、一
般には第1図に示すごとく上部内向きフランジ部
3の下方は直線形状を有しており、これを嵌着す
るに際しては該内向きフランジ部3の肩部に圧入
治具を押しあて金属製筒体Aをバルブガイド5に
挿入する。しかし、前記肩部は内側にシールリツ
プ1を形成する弾性体Bを接合一体化するため圧
入治具の接触面積が極めて少なく、そのため圧入
する力と方向性を不安定なものとし、さらに該バ
ルブステムシールを交換の必要あるときは金属製
筒体Aの下端部4、すなわち金属製筒体A厚み部
分しか脱抜治具を引掛ける場所を持たない。従つ
て抜取るためには非常な苦労を強いられこの際バ
ルブガイド5を傷めたり抜取不能になるなど容認

シールを引抜きに際し前記張出部2の下面に脱抜
治具を掛け上方に引張ると下方に位置する金属製
筒体Aが上部の張出部2に従うため良好な脱抜効
果を上げるが、反面、第5図に示すごとく装着に
関しては挿入治具6による押圧点が金属製筒体A
の最上端であるためその下方に位置する嵌合部は
均一で正確な垂直押圧を加えても金属製筒体Aと
バルブガイド5との接触周面の微妙な接触抵抗の
違いにより傾いて挿入されたり変形を生ずるなど
正確に装着されない危険性を多く有しシール性及
び装着作業性の向上にはなり得なかつた。また張
出部2の折り曲げが複雑で難しいため金属製筒体

味し、多少バルブガイド5が粗面あるいは歪んで
いても従つて来る金属製筒体Aの上部がその面に
そつて挿入されぴつたりと圧入されるので装着不
備を完全に解消すると共に、装着安全性の高い該
金属製筒体Aは嵌着作業能率を大きく向上させ
