Abstract

PURPOSE:To make molten steel pool shape widening upward and to obtain a cast ingot surely improved in segregation and shrinkage hole and having stable quality by executing continuity of current into molten steel through an electric conductor stood to outer wall of a mold at outside of a feeder head part. CONSTITUTION:The molten steel 7 is filled up in the mold 2, and after charging molten slag 8 on this, a consumable electrode 5 is arranged in the molten slag 8 and also electric current is conducted to the consumable electrode 5 and electric conductor 4. At this time, by electromagnetic force action with the current conducted to the electric conductor 4 and with the current conducted to the molten slag 8 and the molten steel 7 in a feeder head frame 3, the molten slag 8 and the molten steel 7 flow, and the molten steel 7, which becomes high temp. by receiving resistant heat generated in the molten slag 8, flows toward lower part of the mold 2, and the molten metal is replaced, and the molten steel 7 in the mold 2 is kept to the high temp. and progress of solidification from side face in the mold 2 is restrained.

One way to keep the feeder warm is by immersing an electrode in molten slag charged above the molten steel surface of the feeder, passing a current between the electrode and the molten steel, and utilizing the resistance heat generated by the molten slag. There is a method of heating and keeping the molten steel in a riser warm, and it is called the electroslag hot top method (hereinafter referred to as ESHT method).

This ESHT method is widely used, and the outline of the apparatus to which it is applied is shown in Fig. 4, in which a mold 12 is placed on a surface plate 11, and a feeder frame 13 cooled by liquid is placed on top of the mold 12. has been done. The molten steel 14 poured into the mold 12 has molten slag 15 charged onto its upper surface. Molten slag 1
A consumable electrode I6 is immersed in the consumable electrode 5, and the consumable electrode 16 and the surface plate 11 are connected to a schematically illustrated electric wire ii7. (For example, Japanese Patent Publication No. 47-39817, Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 61-2919)
(See Publication No. 12) [Problems to be Solved by the Invention] By the way, in the above-mentioned ESHT method, the molten slag 15 is heated by resistance due to the current flowing in the molten steel 1=1 between the consumable electrode 16 and the surface plate 11, and the molten slag 15 becomes high temperature, and the heat is transferred into i8 w414, but it is difficult to transfer to the lower part of molten steel I4, so solidification progresses more easily from the side of mold I2, and the shape of the pool of the residual molten ladle increases. The ingot has an elongated conical shape, and segregation and shrinkage pores may not be significantly improved compared to an ingot that does not use the ESHT method.

In view of the above problems, it is an object of the present invention to provide a method for producing an ingot using the ESHT method, which can reliably improve segregation and shrinkage pores and obtain an ingot of stable quality.

In order to achieve the above object, a method for manufacturing an ingot according to the present invention involves injecting molten steel into a mold having a feeder section, charging molten slag onto the surface of the molten steel, and placing electrodes on the molten slag. In the ingot production method, the molten steel in the mold is heated and kept warm by passing an electric current between the electrode and the molten steel, and the conduction of the current to the molten steel is conducted by standing on the outside wall of the mold outside the feeder section. This is done through a conductor provided.

[Function] Since the present invention conducts current to the molten steel through the conductor installed upright on the outer wall of the mold outside the feeder, the current flowing through the conductor and the melting of the feeder The molten slag and molten steel flow due to the electromagnetic force effect caused by the current flowing through the slag and molten steel, and this flow efficiently transfers the resistance heat generated in the molten slag to the molten steel. Since the molten steel is replaced, it can be efficiently transmitted to the molten steel below in the mold, and as a result, the molten steel in the mold is maintained at a high temperature, inhibiting the progress of solidification from the sides of the mold, and the molten steel pool expands upward. shape, segregation and shrinkage pores are reliably improved, and an ingot with stable quality can be obtained.

The flow force of molten steel due to the electromagnetic force described above is inversely proportional to the distance between the current flowing through the conductor and the current flowing through the molten slag and molten steel in the feeder. It is best to set it upright.

In the device configured in this way, molten steel 7 is placed in the mold 2.
After charging the molten slag 8 thereon, the consumable electrode 5 is provided in the molten slag 8, and the consumable electrode 5 and the conductor 4 are energized. With this energization, the molten slag 8 and molten steel 7 flow due to the electromagnetic force effect caused by the current flowing through the conductor 4 and the current flowing through the molten slag 8 and molten steel 7 in the feeder frame 3, and resistance heat is generated in the molten slag 8. As a result, the molten steel 7, which has become hot, flows below the mold 2, replacing the molten steel, and the molten steel inside the mold 2! 1ii17 is maintained at a high temperature to suppress the progress of solidification from the sides of the mold 2, and an ingot having the solidification profile shown in FIG. 2(a) is obtained.

As shown in Figure 2, in the method of the present invention, a molten steel pool is formed that spreads upward, whereas in the conventional method, the resistance heat generated in the molten slag is transmitted downward to the molten steel. Because of this, solidification progresses from the sides of the mold, and the pool of residual molten steel takes on an elongated conical shape.
